The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 offers 10 percent faster CPU performance hitting peak clock speed of 3.2GHz. The GPU also sees a 30-percent improvement in performance over the original Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

Better Power Efficiency

According to Qualcomm, switching from Samsung’s 4nm process to TSMC 4nm node manufacturer helps it improve power efficiency. The new SD 8+ Gen 1 has up to 30% better CPU & GPU power efficiency over its predecessor.

Why Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 now?

Nine months ago, Qualcomm introduced its poster star the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset claiming to deliver the best performance among SoCs designed for the Android system. Well, it lived up to the performance promise, but it failed to sustain the peak performance over a long duration due to heating issues.

While various brands tried their best to keep heat but now of them succeeded. With Mediatek making a dent in Qualcomm’s market share, it was essential for Qualcomm to establish its supremacy and it has done it with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 launch.

At Qualcomm’s Snapdragon night event, no phone announcement was made. However, as soon as the event concluded smartphone brands started teasing their upcoming Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 phones which will be launched in the coming weeks and months. From OnePlus to Xiaomi, Realme to iQOO and Asus to Samsung’ everyone is expected to offer their latest flagship with using the SD8+ Gen 1 by Qualcomm.

Here’s the list of all Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset-powered phones that are set to launch soon:

1. Asus ROG Phone 6 Pro, ROG Phone 6

Asus ROG Phone 6 was the first phone to debut with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. Asus later launched a more beefed up version called ROG Phone 6 Pro which gets gigs of RAM and storage.

Pro and Non-Pro versions of ROG Phone 6 comes with 6.78-inches AMOLED screen that refresh 165 times in a second which is better than any other phone available in India. Both phone displays are HDR10+ certified and

Talking about Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 based Asus phones performance, both these phones does better than almost every SD 8 Gen 1+ phone in the market. The ROG Phone 6, ROG Phone 6 Pro offer better performance, thermals, and higher energy efficiency than most phones in India.

2. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4

As we exclusively shared earlier, Samsung launched Galaxy Z Fold 4 with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 globally in the month of August. Samsung has slightly under clocked the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 to ensure better stability and sustained performance.

As we revealed earlier, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is leaner and shorter than the Galaxy Z Fold 3. However, the display size is slightly wider than last year. It also supports S Pen, houses stereo speakers, and IPX8 protection rating against water. Optics-wise, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will include a triple camera setup featuring 50MP wide, a 12MP telephoto, and a 12MP ultrawide camera. On the front, it uses a 10MP selfie camera.

3. iQOO 10 Pro

IQOO has also confirmed that it will be offering Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip in its iQOO 10 Pro. The SD 8+ Gen 1-based iQOO phone will have BMW inspired design.

The iQOO 10 Pro‘s other highlights will include a Gimble camera setup at the back and super fast 125W flash charging. iQOO is also likely to include a 2K+ AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and improved haptic motor.

4. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4

The Galaxy Z Flip 4 is another folding phone that Samsung has unveiled at the unpacked event in August 2022. Samsung has made battery optimization coupled with Android 12 and a power-efficient Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset which offers better battery life than its predecessor.

The folding phone comes with a 6.7-inch foldable OLED screen that refreshes the screen 120 times every second. There’s also a 2-inch Super AMOLED cover display. It also features a 50MP primary camera and a 12MP ultrawide camera. Samsung has upped its software game and now promises 4 future software dates.

5. OnePlus 10T

OnePlus latest announcement OnePlus 10T is also a member of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus club. The SD 8 Gen 1+ SoC based phone sits above OnePlus 10 Pro in the line-up, at least on performance terms.

The T series phone flaunts a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. Unlike, the OnePlus 10 Pro, the 10T doesn’t get Hasselblad cameras. Instead, OnePlus has packed a 50MP led triple camera setup. The phone is backed by 4800mAh battery which support 150W fast charging.

6. Xiaomi 12s Ultra

Xiaomi too has multiple Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 phones in its portfolio. Latest SD 8+ Gen 1 from Xiaomi line-up is much talked about 12S Ultra. A part from Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 the biggest USP of 12S Ultra is huge 1-inch sensor which makes it best camera phone in the market, as per the company. Since we haven’t tested 12S Ultra in our space we will refrain from passing a judgement on the phone’s camera.

Xiaomi’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 phone packs a curved AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR 10+ and Dolby Vision support. Among major highlights, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra also features a 4860 mAh battery with a 67W fast charger in the box.

7. Redmi K50s Pro (aka Xiaomi 12T Pro)

Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi will also be launching a new flagship in 2022 and it will be powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 as hinted by Qualcomm. In all likeliness, it will be called the Redmi K50s Pro (might debut as Xiaomi 12T Pro in some regions).

The Redmi K50s Pro is likely to boast of a 6.67-inch OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, and 1200 nits peak brightness. It will include a triple camera setup featuring a 108MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultrawide sensor, and a 2MP sensor for macros. It will draw juice from a 5,000mAh battery which will support a 120W fast charging.

8. OnePlus 10 Ultra (upcoming)

OnePlus has officially confirmed that it will be coming out with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 in Q3 of 2022. While OnePlus did not reveal the name of the phone, we expect it will be called OnePlus 10 Ultra. If what we are hearing is true, the OnePlus may throw in a co-processor sourced from OPPO for improved camera performance.

OnePlus is expected to keep its design and display similar to its current flagship. If that’s the case, the OnePlus 10 Ultra will sport a 6.7-inch LTPO3 AMOLED screen with 2K+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It will continue to flaunt Hasselblad tuned cameras along with Hasselblad at the back. You might see improvement in zoom capabilities as it may offer you up to 5X optical zoom. OnePlus is likely to offer 150W fast charging in the OnePlus 10 Ultra.

9. Realme GT 2 Pro Master Edition (upcoming)

Realme has also officially teased GT 2 Pro Master Edition and confirmed that it will be Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+. The Master Edition smartphone is likely to hit China market first as early as July while it will officially arrive in India in early August.

Like all Master Edition phones, the GT 2 Pro Master Edition is also likely to come with a nature-inspired design created by Naoto Fukasawa. The phone will be featuring an LTPO3.0 AMOLED screen delivering 120Hz of screen refresh rate. Realme is also likely to make improvements and camera hardware and may include a 108MP led triple camera sensor. It is likely to come with a 150W fast charger in the box.

10. Motorola Edge 30 Ultra (upcoming)

Motorola is also set to be among the first few brands to bring a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1-based phone to the market. The company is likely to power its upcoming Motorola Edge 30 Ultra with Qualcomm’s greatest chipset as of now.

Apart from Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, the Moto Edge 30 Ultra will house a 6.67-inch Full HD+ curved OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is likely to come with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage.

Motorola phone is also likely to flaunt Samsung’s new 200MP camera sensor at the back. The Edge 30 Ultra feature a triple camera set including a 200MP primary camera coupled with a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 12MP 2x telephoto camera. Upfront, it may feature a 32MP selfie camera. It is likely to pack a 4,500mAh battery and 80W fast charging support.

The SD8+ Gen 1 has all the making of a successful SoC and OEMs are showing tremendous trust in the latest flagship chipset from Qualcomm. Of course, the list of Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 phones will grow beyond these 10 phones in the coming weeks.
