Samsung India has achieved a new milestone with its fifth-generation foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5. Within the first 28 hours of pre-booking, over 1,00,000 eager consumers secured their devices. The pre-booking phase for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 began on July 27, with the official sale set to start on August 18, 2023. Notably, the pre-bookings for these new models have surpassed the fourth-generation foldable, Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4, with a 1.7x increase in demand during the initial 28-hour window.

JB Park, President and CEO of Samsung Southwest Asia, expressed his satisfaction, stating, “The enthusiastic reception to the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 in India is gratifying. These devices exemplify our commitment to meeting customer needs through innovation. Their success highlights Indian consumers’ openness to groundbreaking advancements. I am confident these devices will solidify our position and promote foldable technology.”

The Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 were introduced at the Galaxy Unpacked event in Seoul, South Korea, on July 26. Packed with the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, these devices offer significant upgrades over their predecessors. A new hinge technology, called Flex Hinge, enables seamless closure without gaps.

The Galaxy Z Flip5 now boasts a 256 GB base storage and a generous 3.4-inch cover display, a remarkable improvement from last year’s 1.9-inch display.

In contrast, the Galaxy Z Fold5 positions itself as a productivity hub, boasting a 7.6-inch main AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate when unfolded, accompanied by a 6.2-inch HD+ cover display with the same refresh rate. Samsung proudly dubs the Z Fold5 its “thinnest and lightest” Fold iteration.

Both models, the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5, come fortified with IPX8 water resistance, Armor Aluminium frames, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 covering all surfaces.

The Galaxy Z Flip5’s starting price is Rs 99,999 for the 8/256 GB variant, while the Galaxy Z Fold5 begins at Rs 1,54,999 for the 12/256 GB version. Those who pre-booked the Galaxy Z Flip5 are eligible for benefits worth Rs 20,000, whereas Galaxy Z Fold5 pre-bookers will enjoy benefits totaling Rs 23,000. These sought-after devices are available through various online and offline retail outlets, as well as Samsung Live.
