Now say “Hi Bixby” to access your Samsung smartphone via voice commands. But only in US. Samsung launched its English voice-assistant feature, Bixby, that will be pre-installed on all its upcoming smartphones but it was missing one key feature till now.

Samsung’s AI assistant can now be summoned using voice prompts and can interact in English. You can ask it to turn on the flashlight, to take a selfie or to make the phone search the pictures from a summer vacation and create an album. Earlier, Voice interaction worked only in South Korea for people who spoke the Korean language.

The first Samsung smartphone to have an English assistant interface will be Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+. Samsung says its virtual assistant can be activated by saying “Hi Bixby” to the phone or by clicking the button on the side of the S8 phones.

Samsung views Bixby as not being limited to just smartphones and could expand this to its consumer electronics as well, including smart television sets, smart fridges, etc.

As of now, Bixby Voice will only be available in New York and there is no official wording as on when Bixby’s English version will be launched in India.
