Samsung is set to launch revamped versions of its Galaxy A series phones in January 2017.The South-Korean manufacturer has started rolling out invites for the launch of brand new Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 2017 which is scheduled to take place in Malaysia. Apart from beefier hardware, Samsung is going to introduce a new design and water resistance in 2017 A-series phones, as per the recent online leaks.

The leaked rendered images suggest that the new design line will have a glass back with metal frame and curved edges which is clearly inspired from the current S series flagships. Samsung has shifted speaker to the right edge which is something we have witnessed in Samsung Galaxy Prime as well. The rear camera bulge is no longer part of the new design line.  As per the leaks, the volume rocker is placed on the left while the power button sits on the right edge.

Samsung continues to sport a fingerprint sensor embedded home button and we expect the new phones to run on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

On the specification front, the Galaxy A3 (2017) is expected to feature a 4.7-inch display, powered by the Exynos 7870 octa-core chipset with ticking at 1.5 GHz. In comes with 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage and is likely to support microSD storage. It is said to sport a 13-megapixel rear camera along with an 8-megapixel front shooter for selfie enthusiasts. Connectivity options would include 4G VoLTE support, dual-band WiFi, NFC, and GPS.

The Galaxy A5 (2017) will bear a larger 5.2-inch full-HD Super AMOLED display powered by a newer Exynos 7880 octa-core chipset. It likely to come with 3GB RAM, 32GB onboard storage with an expansion slot. Samsung is expected to feature 16MP on the both sides of the phone.

There hasn’t been any specific leak related to the Galaxy A7 (2017), but it is expected to flaunt a similar design and house Exynos 7880 chipset. It will have the largest display of the three at 5.7-inches.

The biggest change here apart from the upgraded design and internals is the water resistance which would be highly appreciated by fans. But it remains to be seen how much that affects the pricing of the new Galaxy A 2017 series. All the phones will be available in black, gold, blue and pink colors.

We are going to fill in the blanks pretty soon as Samsung plans to launch the new Galaxy A series next week itself. Let’s wait and watch.
