We have been hearing rumors of ‘Lite’ and ‘Mini’ versions of high-end Galaxy S-series phones for years but looks like this time we’ll actually see one go official. The leaked press renders on Weibo show the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9 Lite or S8 Lite (there is some confusion regarding the name) in full glory.

The same source claims that the phone will be officially presented at the retailer JD’s headquarters on May 21.

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 Lite is shown in Burgundy Red and Black color options. The fingerprint sensor on the rear is placed on the left of the camera sensor just like it was on the last years’ Galaxy S8. On Galaxy S9, this was shifted below the camera module.

The flash module is also different than that on Galaxy S8 or S9. The images show a single LED flash instead of the dual-tone flash and Laser AF module on the right side of the camera sensor.

The Galaxy S9 Lite/ S8 Lite recently surfaced on certification website Tenna a couple of days back and the new leaked images match the one on the Tenna listing.

According to the Tenna, the phone will sport a 1080 x 2220 pixel display (18.5:9). It will be powered by octa-core chipset paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage and run Android Oreo-based software.

Other expected features include an iris scanner, 16MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, 4G LTE support, and 3000mAh battery. Clearly, the alleged S9 Lite has more in common with the Galaxy S8.
