Samsung Galaxy M31s vs Realme 7 Pro comparison: Design and Build quality
Let’s start with the Realme 7 Pro. The new Realme number-series phone boasts of a split gradient pattern which is both sober and appealing. It has a polycarbonate back held by a metal side frame. Realme says that the phone has three-layer splash protection but there is no IP rating to substantiate that claim.
In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy M31s is slightly bulkier, thanks to the massive 6000mAh battery inside. It has a ‘Glasstic’ body that gives it a glass sheen while shaving off a few extra grams.
Despite being a big battery phone, the Galaxy M31s looks and feels amazing. A side-mounted fingerprint reader is accessible and makes it secure.
Both these phones have remarkable design and you can’t go wrong with either. Having said that, the Galaxy M31s feels a bit more distinct.
Samsung Galaxy M31s vs Realme 7 Pro comparison: Display
As we pointed out before, these are the only recently announced AMOLED warriors in under Rs 20,000 jungle. The Realme Samsung Galaxy M31s has a marginally bigger screen while resolution and aspect ratio remains the same.
Samsung has housed a 6.5-inch screen while the Realme went in with a 6.4-inch panel. What really sets these screens apart is the tuning. Samsung is really a champion when it comes to screens and once again that proves true when you compare the two phones side by side.
As is the case with most AMOLED panels, the displays here looks cheerful with punchy colors and excellent contrast ratio. Having said that, Samsung Galaxy M31s screen colors, white balance calibration, and color temperature settings lend it a slight edge. The Realme 7 Pro is clearly the brightest panel in number series ever offered by the brand. We had no trouble reading content on the screen of the phone in sunlight.
Both of these phones support HD streaming on Apps like Netflix and Prime videos.
Between the two phones, here I have to give it to Samsung as the Galaxy M31s display has a slight edge when it comes to tuning.

Samsung Galaxy M31s versus Realme 7 Pro: Performance
The Realme 7 Pro is backed by a better chipset and clearly outwits Samsung Galaxy M31s. Samsung’s love affair with Exynos 9611 continues. The homegrown 10nm chipset isn’t really a match for the 8nm based Snapdragon 720G that drives the Realme 7 Pro.
Playing games such as Call of Duty Mobile or switching between multiple apps Realme 7 Pro feels faster and smoother.
There is nothing to choose between the two phones when it comes to memory and storage. Both phones are equipped with up to 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. Both phones have a media expansion slot. Let’s move on to the software part, shall we?

Samsung Galaxy M31s vs Realme 7 Pro comparison: Software
Both the smartphones have Android 10, of course, which their respective flavors garnished on top. The Realme 7 Pro has ColorOS-based Realme UI whereas the Galaxy M31s has Samsung’s One UI 2.5. Personally, I am more inclined to side with One UI over the Realme UI. Having said that, the Realme UI has improved tremendously in recent times and isn’t far behind.
Samsung’s One UI feels more user-friendly to us in comparison to the Realme UI. Both UI’s are feature-rich. One thing which is common between the two phones is the presence of bloatware apps and services. Thankfully, almost all extras can be removed.
Realme has a better track record of software updates so the Realme 7 Pro owners are likely to receive more frequent updates as compared to the Galaxy M31s users.
Samsung Galaxy M31s & Realme 7 Pro comparison: Camera
The Samsung Galaxy M31s and Realme 7 Pro both are well equipped when it comes to cameras. Both phones feature a quad-camera arrangement on the back and a single selfie camera on the front.
Samsung and Realme both opted for a 64MP primary rear camera. In the Galaxy M31s, the 64MP rear camera is teamed with 12MP ultra-wide and 5MP macro and 5MP depth camera. The Realme 7 Pro, on the other hand, pairs the 64MP sensor with an 8MP ultra-wide and two 2MP sensors – one each for macro and depth-sensing.
Picking between the Galaxy M31s cameras and Realme 7 Pro cameras is a challenging task. Both these cameras have their own pros and cons which makes it difficult to pick one over the other.
Realme 7 Pro clicks more natural images between the two phones with a good amount of details and has a better night photography mode. On the downside, the Realme 7 Pro ultra-wide, macro, and depth cameras are not at par with the competition.
In contrast, the Galaxy M31s that has 64MP Sony MX 682 as the primary camera, enhances images to make them look more pleasant. We noticed some extra sharpening and added contrast. The M31s beats the Realme 7 Pro by offering the best wide-angle camera under Rs 20,000. The 5MP macro camera is also significantly better than what you have on the Realme 7 Pro, making it an overall more versatile camera phone.

Samsung Galaxy M31s versus Realme 7 Pro: Battery and Audio
This is one segment where things get really tough. One has an edge in battery capacity whereas the other one will leave you awestruck with its blazing fast charging speed. Let me explain.
The Samsung M31s packs a massive 6000mAh battery which lasts really long. An average user will find it tough to kill it in a day. However, even with a 25W fast charger it takes almost 100 mins to refill it completely.
The Realme 7 Pro has a sizable 4,500mAh battery which is also good enough for a day for most users, but the awesome 65W fast charging takes the game to a whole new level. It takes just 34 mins to fully refill the 4,500mAh from a dead state.
In terms of audio quality from the loudspeaker, both of these phones failed to impress us. While the Realme 7 Pro has stereo speakers, but the quality was not up to the mark. There’s not much to talk about the Galaxy M31s either.
Realme 7 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy M31s: Which one is better?
Both of these phones have a lot to like. The Realme 7 Pro seems to be a better allrounder and should better serve performance-centric users. But if you are a basic user and willing to sacrifice some performance, the Galaxy M31s has a more versatile camera, slightly better software (subjective), and a tad better quality display.
