Samsung has announced two new ‘C series’ mid-range smartphones – The Galaxy C5 and C7 – in China. The metal body design takes inspiration from the high-end S series, but on the whole this looks like a refreshingly new design from South-Korean electronics giant.

As you would have guessed, the Galaxy C5 is the smaller of the two. It also has a comparatively slower processor (Snapdragon 625 in C7 Vs Snapdragon 617 in C5). Apart from these couple of difference, other hardware is more or less similar.

Both phones include 4GB RAM, 32GB storage and the same 16MP + 8MP camera setup. Both employ Super AMOLED Full HD displays and include fingerprint sensor (home button), NFC, 4G LTE, 128 GB microSD card support, Bluetooth 4.2 and hybrid dual SIM slot tray.

Of course the Galaxy C7 also has a bigger 3300 mAh battery as against 2600 mAh power unit in Galaxy C5.The software on these new handsets is Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) based TouchWiz.

Samsung didn’t talk about global availability of Galaxy C5 and C7, but since the C5 was recently pitched for FCC certification, the likelihood of these crossing Chinese border is good. In China, you can pick 32GB variants of Galaxy C5 and C7 in gold, pink-gold, grey, and silver colors for about $335 and $400 respectively. Yup. 64GB variants too exist, but chances of them arriving at this side of the boarder are slim at best.
