If the reports surfacing from Weibo are to be believed, Xiaomi is going to launch the second iteration of Redmi Pro (which was introduced in 2016) in the coming few days. Redmi Pro was the first from the company to feature a dual camera setup. Back then, the device was powered by a deca-core Helio X25 chipset.

Redmi Pro 2 Features

Xiaomi has already confirmed that they will be the first company to launch a smartphone with Snapdragon 675 SoC. It was also reported that Xiaomi is planning to bring a 48MP camera sensor to one of its upcoming phones. Later another report from China affirmed that it will be one of the upcoming Redmi phones that will feature a 48MP sensor.

One of the teasers of the upcoming Redmi Pro 2 mentions Snapdragon 675 SoC.

Xiaomi’s Global VP, Manu Jain has affirmed at the Qualcomm 4G 5G summit earlier this year that the phone with Snapdragon 675 chipset is under development and will soon see the day of light. Built on 11 nm LPP process, the 675 SoC is an octa-core Kryo 640 CPU supported by Adreno 612 GPU which is said to deliver 30% faster game launch time and up to 35% faster web browsing.

Some other reports to have surfaced about the phone claim that it will feature a ‘punch-hole’ display design like the one found on Honor Nova 4 and Galaxy A8s. This report also claims that phone will come with a glass back and entail a price tag of around 2000 Yuan which roughly translates to Rs.20,000.

If the phone is any good as the rumored on-paper specifications claim, then this could be another major breakthrough for Xiaomi in the budget segment. While most of the information making rounds about this phone are speculations, we need to wait and see how this phone turns out to be in the coming days.
