This Valentine’s day, Xiaomi showered its love on Mi fans with a bunch of new announcements including the Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 5 Pro and Mi TV 4. Today’s announcements were unprecedented in many ways. For the first time, Xiaomi has launched a device first in India even before its own backyard. The Redmi Note 5 Pro and Redmi Note 5 India launch also signifies the importance of Indian smartphone market for Chinese players like Xiaomi.

Redmi Note 5 Features and Highlights

The Xiaomi’s latest stud – the Redmi Note 5 follows the same philosophy established by its predecessor. It is basically a re-branded Redmi 5 Plus which Xiaomi launched on 7th December in China. It packs a 5.99-inch 18:9 display which has become an industry norm today. The FHD+IPS screen which supports 2160 x 1080 pixel resolution. It comes with Gorilla Glass and 2.5D glass on top of the display.

The Redmi Note 5 is powered by Qualcomm’s old, yet reliable horse, Snapdragon 625, which Xiaomi also used in Redmi Note 4, Mi Max 2, and Mi A1. The 2.0GHz octa-core mobile processor is aided by Adreno 506 GPU.

Xiaomi is offering Redmi Note 5 in 3GB RAM and 32GB storage and 4GB RAM and 64GB storage options.In optics, the Redmi Note 5 packs a 12 MP with autofocus at the rear end and a 5MP selfie camera on the front.

Redmi Note 5 Pro Features and Highlights

The biggest highlight of today’s launch event was the Redmi Note 5 Pro. The phone earned the tag of the first smartphone feature Snapdragon 636 chipset. It too packs a trendy 18:9 aspect 5-99-inch display.

The other major difference between the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro is a dual camera setup at the back. It comes with a 12MP + 5MP sensor to portrait shots. It comes with EIS for recording videos. The Note 5 Pro also flaunts a 20MP selfie camera. Xiaomi offers it up to 6GB RAM and 64GB storage with hybrid SIM slot.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with a 4000mAh battery and runs on Android Nougat based MIUI 9 out-of-the-box. The phone also has a Face Unlock feature, which will be available via OTA update by the end of March.
