The realme 13 Pro series is launching in India on July 30, 2024. The series will include the realme 13 Pro and the realme 13 Pro+. With these devices, realme has emphasized heavily on the cameras and AI features.
In this post, we’ll dive into the AI features of the realme 13 Pro series and see how well they work and if they are worth the hype. We’ll talk about AI Ultra Clarity, AI Eraser, AI Screen Recognition, and AI Smart Loop.
1. AI Ultra Clarity
First up, we have AI Ultra Clarity. realme says that this feature will enhance your blurry or fuzzy photos and make them sharper and more detailed. This feature is still in beta, so don’t get too excited yet.
In my testing, the AI Ultra Clarity feature worked well on old photos (especially, black and white ones), adding clarity, sharpness, and detail to them. The feature was a bit of a hit-and-miss when it came to colorful photos.

Colorful images, after enhancing with AI Ultra Clarity, appear quite unnatural and over-sharpened, which doesn’t look great to me. realme also says that the AI Ultra Clarity is supposed to enhance images that are zoomed in 20x and beyond.
I tried this on the realme 13 Pro with a 20x zoomed shot and the results were not very impressive. However, on the realme 13 Pro+, the results were pretty decent, mostly thanks to the periscope lens.

However, for noisy or low-light images, AI Ultra Clarity can significantly reduce noise, making the image look better. It also removes unwanted reflections, which is a plus. So, that’s AI Ultra Clarity for you.

2. AI Eraser
Moving on, we have AI Eraser. The AI Eraser has two selection tools: Smart Lasso and Paint Over. With Paint Over, you brush over the unwanted object or person in your image. With Smart Lasso, you circle or draw a shape over the unwanted object or person, and it will automatically select and remove it.

The AI Eraser works well with smaller objects or those that are well-lit. However, if you’re trying to remove something from an image that’s not well-lit or if it’s a night photo, it might regenerate the same thing you’re trying to remove. Fortunately, this issue can often be fixed with another attempt.

I liked the fact that the AI Eraser is so easy to use, especially with the Smart Lasso. You don’t have to be pixel-perfect to remove what you want to. Overall, AI Eraser is very impressive and user-friendly.

3. AI Screen Recognition
Next up is the AI Screen Recognition feature. It lets you extract images and text from your screen with gestures like a one-finger press, thumb press, or two-finger press. You can also use it when you take a screenshot by tapping “Extract content.”
It works in many apps, and if your favorite app isn’t listed, just go to Supported apps > Other apps and toggle it on. You can save the extracted content to the File Dock or AI Smart Loop, or copy it.
It’s very easy to use. Currently, it supports text recognition in English and Chinese, but hopefully, more languages will be added soon.
4. AI Smart Loop
Finally, there’s the AI Smart Loop. This feature lets you drag and drop text and images to quickly share them with apps like Instagram, Maps, and more. The AI Smart Loop can be opened from any side of the screen, including the top and the bottom.
You can drag content from supported apps like Gallery, Twitter, or WhatsApp and drop it into the File Dock, or directly add it to your Instagram feed, story, or any other app that’s in the Smart Loop. It’s a super efficient way to share and save your content.

Summing up
AI Ultra Clarity does a good job at enhancing your images, but there’s still some room for improvement. The AI Eraser is my favourite feature and it’s the most mature AI feature on the list.
The AI Screen Recognition and the AI Smart Loop also work well, and they’ll totally change how you save and manage content on your device. Which AI feature is your favorite? Do you have any suggestions on these AI features? Share them in the comments below.
