Sony has been pretty ambitious in 2023 since the beginning, and now we can see why. The gaming pioneer has recently introduced a new handheld gaming device dubbed Project Q. The gadget made its debut in the PlayStation Showcase that was held a day ago. This new portable gaming prodigy by Sony is going to give tough competition to other handheld consoles available in the market.

The President and CEO of SIE said that the fans of PlayStation deserve to get a steady chance at amazing content. He further said that the presentation displayed in the event is focused on showing the commitment of Sony towards offering their customers the best and most varied gaming catalog.

Talking about the product, we can say that Project Q is Sony’s attempt to make it at the top of the handheld gaming devices market. The market has been dominated by the Nintendo Switch for a long time now. Nonetheless, other alternatives like Asus ROG Ally and Valve’s Steam Deck have increased the heat in the mentioned segment. As of now, the launch timeline and the pricing of the device are still under wraps.

Project Q specs and working

The Project Q ships an 8-inch HD display coupled with a high refresh rate of 60fps. As claimed by Sony, the device will be available to provide seamless gameplay and high-quality visuals. It also supports the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback of the DualSense Controller. Sony is working rigorously to provide a similar kind of experience to both PS5 ad Project Q users so that none of the users are distracted by any other handheld console.

Project Q has the ability to stream games only if they are installed on your PlayStation 5. To understand it in a better way, you will not be able to play games innately as you can on Steam Deck. Speculations are that Sony will add a feature that will allow streaming games on Project Q after its launch. If you are planning to purchase Project Q, then you should know that it is of almost no use until you have PS5. In order to make it work, you need to connect it to a stable WiFi connection along with the PS5.
