At the Reno2 unveiling in China today, Oppo disclosed that it will launch Reno Ace with 90Hz display next month.

Well, this isn’t completely out of the blue, and we did have hints of the development for a few days. The keyword here is 90Hz display. A technology brought to the mainstream phones by OnePlus, a sister concern of OPPO. And now, even the upcoming Google Pixel 4 series is rumored to sport a 90Hz panel. We are in quarter 4 of the year and flagships without a high-refresh display are now being considered a wasted opportunity.

But what does a 90Hz display mean to you? At the cost of marginal battery consumption, you get noticeably smoother scrolling and animations which are pleasing to the eyes. The frictionless touch experience is quite easy to get used to.

Oppo is yet to spill beans on other features and specificities of the Reno Ace. But, in other news, we have had hints of an oncoming Oppo phone which will run on Snapdragon chipset with integrated 5G modem. This will be in the line of Samsung’s 980 and Huawei’s 990 chipsets.  Yet again, the launch particulars are under wraps.

Could we expect them to be the same phone? That’s something we will know in the coming days. Nevertheless, what do you think?
