Oppo Reno 13 Pro Review:Unboxing

The Reno 13 Pro comes in a typical Oppo cardbard box with clear brandings on it. The cover displays an image of the phone in a matching color. Upon opening the box, the phone is revealed, looking quite premium. The phone boasts a glass and metal construction. Inside the box, you’ll find a Type-C to Type-C cable, SuperVooC charger, silicon case and some documentation.

Oppo Reno 13 Pro Review: Design & Build

When it comes to design, the Oppo Reno 13 Pro is a masterclass in understated elegance. Oppo has prioritized refined aesthetics, resulting in a product that feels incredibly sleek and modern. The phone is remarkably slim (7.5mm) and lightweight (195 grams), making it a joy to hold and use, even for extended periods. This is further emphasized by the size of the battery packed within that slender frame.

Flipping the phone over, you’re greeted by a smooth, matte finish on the back panel. We have the more subdued Graphite color variant for this review. The matte finish on the rear adds a premium feel and serves a practical purpose by resisting fingerprints and smudges. The camera module, while slightly raised, is tastefully integrated into the overall design. Oppo has opted for a vertical arrangement of the lenses, creating a sense of visual balance and symmetry.

The front of the phone features a gorgeous display that curves gracefully at the edges, meeting seamlessly with the slim metal frame. This design creates an almost bezel-less appearance, maximizing screen real estate and providing a truly immersive viewing experience. As for button placement, Oppo has kept the arrangement fairly simple, with both the volume rockers and the power button placed on the right side of the phone. The tactile feedback of the buttons is excellent, providing a satisfying click with each press.

Overall, the Reno 13 Pro has an appealing and minimalistic design that is both sturdy and premium-feeling. It’s a phone that feels as good in the hand as it looks.

Oppo Reno 13 Pro Review: Display

The Oppo Reno 13 Pro boasts a large 6.83-inch AMOLED panel that curves gracefully at the edges, creating an immersive and almost bezel-less design. The viewing experience is further enhanced by the sharp 1272 x 2800 pixel resolution, making everything from text to images appear crisp and vibrant.

Oppo has not cut corners with display technology; the variable refresh rate panel can cycle between 60, 90, and 120Hz. Scrolling through web pages, navigating menus, and playing games feels fluid and buttery smooth in day-to-day use. Furthermore, the display supports HDR10+ content, enabling you to enjoy compatible movies and shows with superior dynamic range and more lifelike visuals.

The display on the Reno 13 Pro is practical, with a peak brightness of 1600 nits, making it easily viewable even under direct sunlight. To protect this visual treat of a display, Oppo has used Corning’s Gorilla Glass 7i, providing an even higher level of scratch and drop resistance compared to regular glass.

Beyond the hardware additions, Oppo has baked in a range of software features to customize the display to your liking. You have the option to adjust the color temperature, choose between different color profiles (Vivid, Natural, Pro), and even fine-tune the white balance.

Oppo Reno 13 Pro Review: Speakers and Haptics

The Oppo Reno 13 Pro has a dual speaker setup with the main speaker located on the bottom edge and the secondary speaker on the top edge. Together, they produce impressive volume and deliver excellent audio quality with clear vocals and instrument separation, noticeable even at maximum volume. The haptics on the phone are also well-tuned, with enough tightness to deliver a quality experience. Their OHaptics has become an industry standard.

Oppo Reno 13 Pro Review: Software

The Oppo Reno 13 Pro runs on ColorOS 15, Oppo’s custom Android skin built on top of Android 15. ColorOS has matured significantly in recent years, going from a once overly cluttered to a more refined and user-friendly interface.

The most striking aspect of ColorOS 15 is its clean and modern aesthetic. The icons are well-designed, the animations are fluid, and the overall layout is intuitive and easy to navigate. Oppo has clearly put a lot of thought into the visual design, creating an interface that is both pleasing to the eye and functionally effective.

Beyond its visual appeal, ColorOS 15 offers a whole load of customization options. You can personalize almost every aspect of the interface, from the wallpapers and font style to the color scheme. This allows for a tailored and truly personalized experience.

ColorOS 15 has a range of useful features, from the system-wide dark mode and customizable always-on display to the smart sidebar that provides quick access to frequently used apps. While ColorOS does come with some pre-installed apps, Oppo has made an effort to minimize bloatware. Most of these apps can be uninstalled, giving you more control. Furthermore, the Reno 13 Pro comes with a promise of 3 Android OS version updates and up to 4 years of security updates.

The Reno 13 Pro also comes with a host of AI features. It includes the “Circle to Search” feature, used to quickly search for anything on your screen by simply circling it with your finger. ColorOS also offers AI-powered photo editing tools, such as AI Reflection Remover, AI Unblur, and AI Eraser 2.0. We have a detailed look at all these features in our Oppo Find X8 Pro review.

Oppo Reno 13 Pro Review: Performance

The Oppo Reno 13 Pro is no slouch when it comes to performance. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 SoC, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. This octa-core processor, with its mix of high-performance and power-efficient cores, delivers a smooth experience across a wide range of tasks. Whether you’re browsing the web, scrolling through social media, editing photos, or playing demanding games, the Reno 13 Pro handles it all without breaking a sweat.

In synthetic benchmarks, the Dimensity 8350 performs well but is still far away from the competition. The phone managed to score 1,161,074 points on the AnTuTu V10 test, while Geekbench 6 scores were 1321 and 4071 for the single-core and multi-core tests, respectively.

Gaming performance is also quite decent on the Reno 13 Pro. The Dimensity 8350, coupled with the Mali-G610 MC6 GPU, can handle demanding games at respectable frame rates. You can expect smooth gameplay in popular titles like Call of Duty Mobile and BGMI. To keep things cool, the Reno 13 Pro also comes with an updated vapor chamber cooling system.

During our nearly two-week testing period, the Reno 13 Pro had virtually zero connectivity issues. It comes with support for dual 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC.

Oppo Reno 13 Pro Review: Cameras

Oppo has a strong track record of delivering smartphones with impressive cameras, and the Reno 13 Pro is no different. The phone boasts a versatile triple rear camera setup, including a 50MP primary sensor, a 50MP telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultrawide lens.

The 50MP Sony IMX890 primary sensor is the star of the show. It captures detailed and vibrant images in various lighting conditions, thanks to its large sensor size and wide f/1.8 aperture. The sensor manages to capture images with near-accurate colors, a wide dynamic range, and good sharpness.

Complementing the primary sensor is a 50MP telephoto lens. This lens offers 3.5x optical zoom, allowing you to get closer to your subjects without sacrificing image quality. Next up is the 8MP ultrawide lens, which is the average performer of the three. The images are soft and can have a bit of noise. In low-light performance, the phone captured some decent photos with minimal noise. While the camera produces images suitable for social media, it falls short of the competition.

On the front, the Reno 13 Pro features a 50MP selfie camera. This sensor captures detailed and well-lit selfies, even in challenging lighting conditions. Oppo has always been a sort of selfie champion, and that remains the same with the Reno 13 Pro.

Since the phone comes with an IP rating, Oppo has added a new Underwater Mode, which, as the name suggests, helps you take breathtaking underwater images. Apart from this, Oppo has also brought in a bunch of AI features that are like a cherry on top.

Oppo Reno 13 Pro Review: Battery Life and Charging

The Oppo Reno 13 Pro excels in the battery department, packing a large 5,800mAh battery. The performance numbers on paper are quite high, and in real-world use, the phone easily lasts a full day with moderate use. People with less demanding use cases can even expect close to two days of battery life on a single charge.

Speaking of charging, the Reno 13 Pro supports Oppo’s 80W SuperVOOC fast charging technology. With the included charger, you can top up the battery from 0 to 100% in less than 50 minutes.

Review Verdict: Should You Buy the Oppo Reno 13 Pro?

Smartprix Rating: 8.5/10

Design and Build: 8/10

Display & Speakers: 8.5/10

Software: 9/10

Haptics: 8.5/10

Biometrics: 8/10

Performance: 8/10

Cameras: 8/10

Battery Life & Charging: 9/10

The Oppo Reno 13 Pro brings some improvements over the outgoing Reno 12 Pro. Its elegant design, vibrant display, and long-lasting battery make it a joy to use daily. Coming in at a starting price of Rs 49,999, it may not be the absolute best in any single category, but it’s a reliable allrounder that will likely carve a niche in the offline market.
