Foldable smartphones have become the in-thing ever since Samsung came out with Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Flip devices. Following the trend, tech giant Oppo is all set to come up with its first foldable smartphone in December 2021. The phone has been codenamed ‘Peacock’ and reportedly features an inward folding design, just like Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Huawei Mate X2.
Oppo Peacock Expected Specs
The first foldable smartphone by Oppo is expected to come with an 8-inch LTPO (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. It will come pre-installed with ColorOS 12 although there’s still no clarity whether it will feature Android 12 or Android 11 under the skin.
Renders revealing the design of the Oppo Smartphone were shared by LetsGoDigital.
It is claimed to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset and also features a Sony IMX766 50MP rear camera sensor. It will have a 32MP front camera for video calls and selfies. Reports state that Peacock will pack a 4500mAh battery under the hood with 65W fast charging support. It will have a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
It is expected that Oppo could launch Peacock along with their Oppo Reno 7 series of smartphones that are scheduled to come out in the middle of December 2021. By the way, reports also claim that the company is working on another high-end device codenamed ‘Butterfly’ which could be a Find X4 series smartphone.
