Oppo India has launched the Oppo A79 5G, a mid-range phone with a dual-rear camera setup, a massive battery that supports fast charging, and a large screen for consuming content. It will be available in two colors starting October 28, 2023. Here’s everything you need to know about the Oppo A789 5G, including the design, specifications, and availability.

Oppo A79 5G Design

The Oppo A79 5G has a dual-rear camera setup encased in a rectangular bump on the rear panel. One can also see the company’s branding toward the bottom. The right spine of the smartphone features the volume rockers and the power button, while the left spine houses the SIM card tray. Users get the speaker tray, USB-C port, and 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom spine.

Oppo A79 5G Specifications

The Oppo A79 5G sports a 6.72-inch FHD+ Sunlight display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It packs the company’s All-Day AI Eye Confort technology for continuous eye protection and a safe viewing experience. The press release mentions Oppo A79 5G has a Widevine L1 certification for viewing HD content on Amazon Prime Video and Netflix. For a better multimedia experience, the phone comes with stereo speakers that deliver surround sound.

What’s unique is that the smartphone includes an Ultra Volume Mode takes the speaker volume up to 300 percent and the earpiece volume to 200 percent. However, how the feature turns out in real-life usage and whether it impacts the sound quality is something to find out. The Oppo smartphone also features noise and echo reduction for voice calls and comes with a headphone jack.

The Smartphone Ships With MediaTek 6020 SoC

Under the hood, the Oppo A79 5G runs on the MediaTek 6020 SoC, which comes with two 2.2 GHz ARM Cortex-A76 performance cores and six 2.0 GHz ARM Cortex-A55 efficiency cores.

The chipset comes with 8GB of physical RAM (expandable up to 16GB using RAM expansion technology) and 128GB of storage, which can be expanded up to 1TB using an external SD card. Out of the box, the mid-range smartphone runs on ColorOS 13, based on Android 13.

On the back panel, the smartphone has a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL JN1 sensor, which clicks 12.5MP shots (using quad-pixel binning). Other camera features include an Ultra Night mode, Portrait mode, and a high-resolution mode for capturing 50MP photos. Then there’s a 2MP portrait sensor, which assists in depth detection.

On the front, users get an 8MP punch-hole selfie camera. The Oppo A79 5G features a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 33W SUPERVOOC wired charging that juices the battery cells to 51 percent in about 30 minutes.

Oppo A79 5G Price And Availability

The Oppo A79 5G costs Rs. 19,999 in India, and it will be available from October 28, 2023, via the Oppo Store, Flipkart, Amazon, and other retail outlets.

Interested customers can avail of a cashback of up to Rs. 4,000 and no-cost EMI for up to nine months using ICICI, SBI, Kotak, IDFC First, or Bank of Baroda cards. The smartphone comes in two color options: Glowing Green and Mystery Black.
