OnePlus Product Manager Trolls Xiaomi; Runs Twitter Poll Between Oxygen OS And Stock Android

0

A few days ago, Xiaomi took a twitter poll between MIUI9 and Stock Android, where its MIUI lost to stock Android. After the embarrassing results, Xiaomi deleted its Twitter post, attracting more negative press.

Now OnePlus product manager, Szymon Kopec, has trolled Xiaomi by running another such poll where followers (and others) are voting between stock Android and Oxygen OS. The poll is, however, on his personal handle and not on OnePlus’s official channel. Taking another stab at Xiaomi, OnePlus Cofounder Carl Pei has commented on the post asking Szymon not to delete the post irrespective of how the results turn out in the end.

The OxygenOS was well ahead when the poll started but stock Android is gradually catching up. At the time of writing, the results stand in OP’s favor – 53-percent for Oxygen OS and 47-percent for stock Android. There are still 16 more hours to go, though.

The voters aren’t necessarily OnePlus followers as Szymon has around 600 followers and 5,343 people have already voted at the time of writing.

Unlike MIUI, Oxygen OS isn’t a complete overhaul of stock Android. Oxygen OS retails look and feel of the stock Andoird and yet add subtle enhancements throughout. OnePlus’s approach with its OS has often been applauded in the Android community and that’s perhaps why it has much better odds at winning this compared to Xiaomi’s MIUI. Having said that, this is certainly going to be a close one!

Do you think it was wise of OnePlus product manager to publically poll to prove his point? We would like to know what you think in the comment section below. We will update you once the final results are out.

Update: The poll has ended, and looks like OnePlus ended with a burn. Over 10,000 people voted and OnePlus’s stunt kind of backfired. Stock Android won with 58-percent votes and the Oxygen OS amassed the remaining 42-percent.
