Reliance Jio Fiber is excellent fodder for the rumor mill and thus its hardly surprising that we keep running into reports regarding the upcoming Jio broadband services. A new report from Telecom Talk claims that the Jio Fiber would be officially launched by the end of March.

Jio Fiber was earlier rumored to launch in January 2018, but that didn’t happen. Jio is already conducting trials in 10 cities including Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Ahmedabad, Jamnagar, Surat, Hyderabad, and Vadodara, under its Jio Fiber Preview offer.

Jio Fiber Plans and Speed (Rumored)

Jio Fiber test users reveal that the telecom operator offers 100GB of free data at 100Mbps speed every month. Once the free period ends, Jio is expected to charge Rs. 500 for 100GB data per month and Rs. 2000 for 1000GB data. A one-time refundable fee of Rs. 4,500 has also been reported on numerous occasions.

Prior to Jio Fiber’s arrival other major broadband players have slashed rates, preparing for the imminent customer retention battle.

Jio TV services to be bundled with Jio Fiber

Even more interesting is the report that Jio might bundle TV services along with the FTTH broadband. This could hit DTH subscribers pretty hard and could increase JioFiber adoption. Since Jio has multi-service operator license, these reports don’t seem far-fetched.

Jio is expected to cover 50 million households (including tier 2 and tier 3 cities) in the first phase of roll out and will later expand operations to top 100 cities. Jio has already done the groundwork or has laid 3-lakh kilometers of optical fiber cable in the country. Let’s wait and watch.
