After a wide array of speculation, OnePlus 5 has now been confirmed to arrive this summer. The phone is set to succeed renowned 2016 flagships, the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T (review). You might be curious as to what the OnePlus 5 will bring to the table? As the official unveiling draws near, quite a few handy leaks give us a clearer glimpse into what lies ahead. Let’s talk about OnePlus 5 specifications and features that have surfaced so far.

OnePlus 5 Display

OnePlus so far has persisted with the full HD displays while the all major flagships have moved on to the QHD display. With OnePlus 5, the company is expected to finally embrace 2K display resolution – at least that’s what the street buzz suggests.

Since OnePlus is likely to use an AMOLED panel this year too, added pixels could actually help.

OnePlus 5 Hardware

OnePlus 5 innards are likely to set benchmarks for other 2017 flagships. The OnePlus 3 and 3T came with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and Snapdragon 821 likewise, the OnePlus 5 will boast of Qualcomm’s latest and best Snapdragon 835 chipset. The phone is likely to feature 8GB RAM similar to Asus Zenfone AR.

OnePlus 5 Camera

OnePlus is set to hop on to the dual camera trend with OnePlus 5. The phone is set to feature a vertical dual camera setup at the back. If reports are true, one of the two sensors will be a 23-megapixel sensor while the other sensor details are yet to arrive in public domain. It will be interesting to see what sort of camera sensors OnePlus uses in its next flagship. Whether it will have an RGB+ monochrome sensor or a telephoto lens on the secondary shooter to allow optical zoom remains to be seen. A Recent set of leaks also suggests dual cameras on the front.

OnePlus 5 Battery

Rumor has it, the OnePlus 5 will house a 3500mAh battery. Its successor and last year’s flagship killer came with 3400mAh battery. The smartphone maker has further improved its proprietary dash charging technology (which is one of the fastest in the market) to ensure the OnePlus 5 takes lesser time to refill the empty tank.

OnePlus 5 Software

OnePlus 5 is more likely to boot up in OxygenOS which will be based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat. The UI will remain close to stock. OnePlus likely to carry forward its black theme with OnePlus 5 which makes the most of Optic AMOLED’s deep black. The phone will also come with Google Assistant. Since Google has already announced Android O-beta which will go live in coming days, OnePlus might announce an Android O-beta built for OnePlus 5 sooner rather than later.
