On January 4, OnePlus launched its next-gen OnePlus 11 5G with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC under the hood. The device arrived with a splendid 5,000mAh battery which should last for a day even on heavy usage. However, it seems like the reality is different given the initial reviews hinting at a poor battery performance.

OnePlus 11 Troublesome Battery Life

According to a report by tech reviewer Xiaobai’s Tech Reviews, the battery endurance test on the OnePlus 11 5G revealed an on-screen time (SoT) of 5 hours and 33 minutes. The reviewer tagged OnePlus 11 5G’s battery as the worst performing with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC under the hood.

The battery endurance test conducted on the OnePlus 11 5G includes a mix of video streaming, music streaming, social media, video recording, and gaming including Game For Peace, Honor of Kings, and Genshin Impact among other tasks. These were the tests where the OnePlus 11 5G got an SoT of just 5 hours 33 minutes. Compare with the OnePlus 10 Pro (4,700mAh), the latter got 5 hours SoT; Realme 10 Pro+ (5,000mAh) got 6 hrs and 49 minutes among others.

Considering the battery output, 5 hours and 33 minutes SoT is bad for a flagship phone with a 5,000mAh battery and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC under the hood. The Indian and global variants might throw in more SoT given the battery and software optimizations that kick into play once it gets OxygenOS out of the box.

Although the OnePlus 11 5G supports 100W fast charging, the idea that the phone’s battery is performing on the lower side even with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC under the hood is daunting.

OnePlus 11 5G is all set to launch in India and globally on February 7. The phone will officially make its debut at its “Cloud 11” event in New Delhi followed by its availability across India via OnePlus Online Store, e-Commerce, and offline retailers.
