Ola, the renowned taxi service in India, has unveiled a new delivery category that will revolutionize parcel transportation across the country. Yes, you read it correctly; the company is introducing a service similar to Swiggy Genie and Dunzo, designed to pick up consignments from point A and swiftly deliver them to point B. As per the official announcement, Ola intends to employ its very own e-scooter, the Ola Electric S1 series scooter, to facilitate this service.

Ola is now introducing a user-friendly parcel facility accessible directly through their mobile app. To inaugurate this exciting offering, Ola is extending a special promotion to its users. For the first two days, starting on October 7th, Ola Parcel services will be completely free of charge.

Bhavish Aggarwal, the CEO of Ola, took to Twitter to make the official announcement about the launch of Ola Parcel services in India. In his tweet, he unveiled Ola’s ambitious plan to penetrate the Indian logistics market, leveraging its extensive network of electric vehicles.

Ola Parcel Rates

Ola has unveiled a rate card outlining the charges for its parcel services. Users will be billed based on the distance traveled in 5-kilometer increments, and the rates are as follows:

  • For distances up to 5 kilometers, the charge is Rs 25.
  • For journeys spanning 6 to 10 kilometers, the cost is Rs 50.
  • Traveling between 11 and 15 kilometers will incur a charge of Rs 75.
  • For distances of 16 to 20 kilometers, the rate is Rs 100.

On average, Ola’s parcel services cost around Rs 5 per kilometer. While Ola hasn’t specified any weight restrictions for its logistics service, it’s reasonable to assume that the system primarily caters to delivering smaller items, such as letters or compact packages weighing under 5 kilograms.

Currently, Ola Parcel services are exclusively available in Bengaluru. However, Ola has plans to expand this service to other major metropolitan areas in the near future.

To kick off the launch, Bhavish Aggarwal has announced a special inaugural offer. Users can enjoy Ola Parcel services free of charge for the first two days, which are October 7th and 8th. Following this promotional period, the regular pricing, as detailed in the rate card above, will apply.
