August 15 is an auspicious day for India as we celebrate Independence Day. Well, Ola Electric is also eagerly waiting for the day to arrive when it will debut its first-ever electric car amidst huge anticipation from the masses. It will be the 75th Independence Day and Ola Electric will launch at least one product but there could be more.

Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal’s tweet teases potentially new products

Bhavish Aggarwal, Ola’s CEO, has gone public with a tweet of a poll asking people if they have any guesses on what the company is launching on 15th August. The options are “new S1 at a lower price”, “India’s sportiest car”, “Ola cell factory” or “next exciting color on S1”. Although we knew that the electric car is coming on August 15, the poll has sparked rumors that the tech giant has other products in the pipeline too.

According to the poll options, Ola could be launching a new S1 at a lower price than the current one or it could be a new color. Ola already has bigger plans for the future for which it is looking for a 1000-acre land to build its next-gen Ola cell factory for its four-wheeler EVs and thus, the option. Finally, we have “India’s sportiest car” which is the electric car in the works slated to arrive on August 15th.

For those who don’t know, Ola Electric Car is expected to have a coupe-like roofline with four doors. Ola has already shared a teaser of a red-colored Ola EV with amazing-looking DRL headlamps and an Ola logo at the front (and the back). We don’t know any specific details about the car yet which means we will have to wait for more updates from the tech giant.

Ola has been facing a lot of turmoil ever since it entered the EV market. Its S1 and S1 Pro EV scooters have been at the forefront when it comes to EV catching fire. It recently laid off quite a lot of people and in fact, some of the top execs at the company have redesigned as well. It was also rumored to merge with Uber, however, Ola has made its stand clear that it won’t merge.

It remains to be seen what unfolds at the August 15th launch event. The electric car is definitely one of the products, however, we are hoping to see more than one product at the display so let’s see what happens. You can keep a tab on Ola’s updates right here on Smartprix.
