Ola Announced In-Trip Insurance Programme For Riders, Can Be Availed From Re 1

Indian cab aggregator, Ola is now covering all its customer with an insurance of up to Rs. 5 lakh under its ‘Chalo Befikar’ programme. To avail, all you have to do is book an Ola cab, or auto, or e-rickshaw and buy the Re 1 insurance. For Ola Rentals and Ola Outstation, the premium will be Rs 10 and 15, respectively.

The insurance can be availed in cases such as loss of baggage or laptops, missed flights, accidental medical expense, ambulance transportation cover, and more. The app-based cab service started the initiative with Acko General Insurance to launch the programme.

As of now, the programme is only available for customers in major metros, but Ola says it will eventually roll it out to a total of 110 cities in coming weeks. Please note that this is an optional service and can be purchased from Ola app itself.

How to opt for Ola ‘Chalo Befikar’ In-trip Insurance Program?

In order to buy the in-trip insurance program, head over to Ola appMenu > Profile > Ride Insurance, and then turn the toggle insurance switch On. Once you to do that, the insurance premium will be charged on all your future rides unless you won’t turn it Off.

The Ola ‘Chalo Befikar’ insurance Cover is as follows:

You can get a maximum cover of Rs. 5 Lakh in case of accidental death. Other plan covers are as follows – Accidental medical expense (Rs. 1,00,00), hospital daily allowance (Rs. 500), OPD treatment (Rs. 3,000), ambulance transportation (Rs. 10,000), accidental death benefit (Rs. 5,00,000), missed flights (Rs. 5,000), loss of baggage (Rs. 20,000), and more. Further, Ola also said that it is also partnering with ICICI Lombard insurance to safeguard the journey of its customers. It will soon make the services live.

The launch of this initiative, a first of its kind in India, reiterates our resolve of building customer-first solutions,” said Vishal Kaul, Chief Operating Officer, Ola.
