Oculus Quest 2 VR headset goes official at the Facebook Connect event

Facebook Reality Labs (earlier Oculus Research Division) has unveiled the Oculus Quest 2 Virtual Reality headset. This one is cheaper, lighter, slimmer, and overall better from the first-gen Quest. It features a Snapdragon XR2 processor under the hood and sports a better display with up to 90Hz refresh rate. Now, you need to log in with your Facebook ID to use the Quest 2.

The Quest 2 has got an LCD display with 90Hz fluidity and 1832 x 1920 pixels for each eye (which is a 50% bump in resolution over the original).

At the core, there is Snapdragon XR2 chipset, coupled with 6GB of RAM, and 64/256GB of onboard storage.

Coming to the controllers, they are powered by AA batteries and boast better ergonomics and tracking control. Oculus also claims this new controller can run 4x longer than the precursor.

Oculus highlights the new headset is 10% lighter. It comes with a strap and an interpupillary adjustment system. Additionally, if you want, you can buy these accessories for an even comfortable experience.

Lastly, with the Quest 2, FRL is severing the link with PCs. The company is selling a $79 Link USB-C cable if in case you want to access the Rift library on the computer.

Facebook Oculus Quest 2 Price and Availability

The 64GB model of Oculus Quest 2 is priced at $299, whereas the bigger 256GB storage model would cost you $399.
