Nubia launches RedMagic 8S Pro & 8S Pro+ with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, 24GB RAM and more

Chinese juggernaut Nubia has launched two new smartphones in its RedMagic 8 series. Strapped with gaming chops, these high-octane dup promises impeccable performance thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Advanced Edition under the hood.

Nubia RedMagic 8S Pro/Pro+ Specifications

Both the devices have a 6.8” BOE OLED panel with up to 120Hz refresh rate, 1440Hz PWM dimming plus DC dimming as well as 960Hz multi-finger touch sampling rate. The display is ginormous at 93.7% STB thanks to the super thin 1.48mm bezels on the sides.

The boxy-looking RedMagic 8S Pro and Pro+ bring an ICE 12.0 magic cooking system onboard that uses both fan plus a full-through air duct, super large VC liquid cooling, 3D ice-level dual-pump, and graphene to bring the temperature of this beast by 17° C.

Being gaming smartphones by nature, the duo brings a 520Hz sampling rate for the shoulder triggers, enhanced vibrations and sound effects, and more thanks to a gaming-oriented Red Core R2 chip.

A Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Advanced Edition ensures maximum rev at 3.36GHz frequency. There’s up to 16GB of RAM on the 8S Pro while 8S Pro+ stretches up to 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM which is the highest in a smartphone. There’s up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage on the duo as well.

You need a powerful battery on a gaming smartphone and RedMagic 8S Pro/Pro+ won’t disappoint you. There’s a 6,000mAh battery pack with 80W charging on the 8S Pro while Pro+ takes it to 165W charging while chopping the battery pack to 5,000mAh. Well, you will somewhere and you will lose somewhere just like in games.

On the optics side, we have a 50MP Samsung GN5 + 8MP Ultrawide and a 2MP macro rear camera setup. It is flanked by a 16MP OmniVision OV16A1Q front camera. Other stuff onboard the duo are an in-display fingerprint scanner, heart rate detection, 5G NSA/SA, Type-C port, NFC, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Dual Smart PA, and stereo speakers among others.

About the availability, both phones are available for order in China at the time of writing this. It will go on sale on July 11th. Its global availability is July 18 for 8S Pro while the sale commences on July 27. Finally, the Bumblebee Edition goes on sale in early August.
