Nothing has officially announced the Phone (3a) Community Edition, a limited-run variant of its mid-range handset designed in collaboration with its user base. Following a six-month project that solicited ideas for hardware, wallpaper, and packaging, the company has finalized a “Frosted Teal” version of the device that goes on sale this week.

While the phone undergoes a significant cosmetic overhaul, the internal hardware remains identical to that of the standard model. Here is what is changing and how difficult it will be to buy one.

Nothing Phone (3a) Community Edition Design: What Changed?

The primary differentiator for this edition is the back panel. Moving away from the brand’s standard monochrome and transparent aesthetic, this model uses a translucent “Frosted Teal” finish.

The design is the result of a multi-stage competition. Nothing selected four winners: Emre, Jad, Louis, Ambrogio, and Sushruta, to work with its London-based design team. The changes include:

  • Hardware: A teal-colored, translucent chassis.
  • Software: Exclusive wallpapers and a custom clock face on the lock screen.
  • Packaging: A specially designed box for this unit.

This is the company’s second community-designed hardware release, following the Phone (2a) Plus Community Edition launched last year.

Nothing Phone (3a) Community Edition Price and Availability

The Nothing Phone (3a) Community Edition is priced at ₹28,999 for the 12GB RAM / 256GB storage model.

Availability is the primary constraint. Nothing has capped global production at just 1,000 units. In India, the device will not be sold online. It will be available through a single “drop” event.

  • Date: December 13, 2025
  • Time: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM IST
  • Location: 33&Brew, Prestige Technostar, Bengaluru.

Given the low production numbers, stock is expected to be exhausted immediately during the drop.

The Specs Remain Unchanged Changed

Prospective buyers should note that this is purely a cosmetic update. The Community Edition shares the exact same specification sheet as the standard Phone (3a).

  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3
  • Display: 6.77-inch flexible AMOLED (120Hz adaptive)
  • Cameras: 50MP main, 50MP telephoto (2x optical), 8MP ultrawide
  • Battery: 5,000mAh with 50W fast charging
  • Front Camera: 32MP

If you already own a Phone (3a), there is no performance incentive to upgrade. This release is aimed strictly at collectors and enthusiasts who prioritize the exclusive colorway.
