Nokia Smartphone Running Android 7.0 Nougat Surfaces On Geekbench

Another substantial piece of information regarding of Nokia’s much-awaited comeback has surfaced. A Nokia D1C hit Geekbench a few weeks after the Nokia 5320 and Nokia 1490. This falls in line with an earlier report that claimed Nokia could launch up to 4 new phones in the Q4, 2016.

Unlike the Nokia 5320, the new D1C appears to be a mid-range handset. Based on the benchmark listing, it is powered by Snapdragon 430 octa-core SoC (which was also used in Redmi 3s) and is running the latest Android 7.0 Nougat.

The best single-core and multi-core Geekbench score for Nokia D1C are 682 and 3154, respectively. That’s good enough for a budget handset.

The new listing qualifies as substantial evidence that a Nokia device running Android software is on its way. Since Nokia granted HMD Global the exclusive license to create Nokia-branded Android mobile phones and tablets for the next 10 years, that’s where the new Nokia devices will be manufactured.

The Nokia N1 launched last year did quite well and thus there are chances that Nokia will be launching an upgrade too.

Before Microsoft acquired Nokia, fans were hoping against hope that the Finnish giant would unleash an Android powered handset. But this was all back in 2013. And 3 years is equivalent to decades in technology time.

Do you think Nokia has lost its mojo? Or you believe that a Nokia designed Android phone is still worth being excited about. Share your opinion with us in the comment section below.
