Previously, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman wrote about Apple’s plans to launch a laptop-like Magic Keyboard for iPad. Adding to it, Gurman mentions in his latest newsletter that the new Magic Keyboard could come with an aluminum top case, matching the new MacBooks. The new design element will make the accessory feel more premium. Further, it will make the product more durable and sturdier than the plastic version.
Magic Keyboard With Aluminum Frame
In the closed position, the accessory’s exterior shelf will retain the cover material seen in the current model, along with one USB-C port. The new device will debut next year with the new iPad Pro models with improved cameras, OLED screens, and the purported M3 chipset. Whether or not the new Magic Keyboard will feel like a MacBook is something enthusiasts and experts will discover with time.

The introduction of aluminum to the assembly could increase the product’s manufacturing cost, which, in turn, might reflect in the price. Currently, the Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro costs $299 in the USA and Rs. 29,900 in India for the iPad Pro 11-inch (4th Generation). Those with the 12.9-inch iPad Pro must spend $349 or Rs. 33,900 to get the compatible variant.
The addition of aluminum might not add much to the overall weight of the device, but it will surely add something to its price. While we’re still a year away from the new iPad Pro launch, Apple is about to reveal the iPhone 15 series at the “Wonderlust” event that will take place on September 12, 2023.
