MIUI 14 Announced for Xiaomi and Redmi Phones; Features, rollout timeline and other details

Xiaomi has released the next iteration of its Android-based Mobile operating System MIUI. The MIUI 14 brings in privacy controls, an upgraded AI assistant, and some cool visual changes MIUI 14 was announced on 11th December with Xiaomi 13 series.

Starting with UI visuals, MIUI 14 comes with a new icon and widget customization. With options to pick among sizes, the latest Xiaomi android skin has interactive objects such as avatars to make the display screen more engaging and fun. Along with this, we got customizable folders, new widgets, and a few other design tweaks.

As stated by Xiaomi, the new MIUI 14 is lighter and bloatware free. The new version will be 23% lighter on the system, and will come with only 8 pre-installed apps. Xiaomi has made improvements in the files and notification management system to keep your smartphone free of redundant files and resident notifications clearance easy.

Talking about power now, the processing of MIUI 14 is said to be increased drastically thanks to new Photon engine, running on underlying Android Kernel. To back their claim, the manufacturer has given some good numbers like 60% improved overall system fluency and reduced power consumption by almost 16%.

And the latest addition is the updated Xiaomi AI Assistant version 6.0 with a new recommendation function that learns user habits and provides shortcuts. Other than that, it also extends services like multi-functional reminders for scheduling, smart home, travel, and more.

As of now, Xiaomi has rolled out a release schedule of MIUI 14 for Chinese devices only. The rollout will begin in January 2023 for devices like Xiaomi 12 series, Xiaomi K50 series, and Xiaomi Mix Fold 2. Also, for tablets like Redmi Pad, and Mi Pad 5 series. The global rollout may begin in the first half of 2023.
