Post Reliance Jio entry there has been a  spike in demand of VoLTE enabled smartphone in the market. In an attempt to cash this surge in demand for VoLTE smartphones, Micromax has launched a new Vdeo series in India. Under this series, the Indian company has launched Vdeo 1 and Vdeo 2 at Rs. 4,440 and Rs. 4,990 respectively. As an introductory offer, both phones come bundled with  a Reliance Jio SIM card with three month long free data and voice calling offer.

The Micromax Vdeo 1 features a 4-inch WVGA display and is equipped with a 1.3GHz quad-core chipset that runs the show. It comes with paltry 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot for storage expansion. The phone has a 5-Megapixel primary sensor which is assisted by LED flash. On the front, there is a 2-Megapixel to capture self-portraits. The phone houses a measly 1600mAh battery which could be a limiting factor, save for basic users.

The Micromax Vedo 2, on the other hand, comes with a 4.5-inch FWVGA display. It comes with a 1.3GHz chipset coupled with 1GB of RAM. It gets 8 GB internal storage which is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.

Both the phones come out of the box running on Android Marshmallow and flaunt a metal body. To offer video calling feature, it comes with Google Allo app pre-installed. Both these phones are clearly aimed at those feature phone users who are willing to make a shift towards smartphones.

At Micromax we thrive on our understanding of the Indian consumer, consistently deriving insights and delivering innovative products to the market. 2016 has seen a marked slowdown in the long term trend of Feature Phones users shifting to Smart Phones. Two barriers we identified were perceived high cost of data and a lack of a differentiated mass-use case. With the launch of the Vdeo range we have focused on these issues. We believe Video calling that is as simple as making a voice call, in a stable environment, will be a strong use case especially in smaller towns. This feature, coupled with free internet connectivity with the pre-bundled Reliance Jio SIM is a compelling proposition that will accelerate the switch from feature phones to Smartphones. Our leadership position and strong brand equity has allowed Micromax, for the first time in the industry, to bring together key players in the eco-system to deliver a complete solution for our consumers.
