Micromax has launched a couple more Unite series handsets – The Unite 4 and Unite 4 Pro – targeting people restricted by regional language barrier. The USP of both of these new Unite phones is the Indus OS 2.0 which bakes in support for 12 regional languages.

The Indus OS 2.0 also includes “App Bazar” market place where consumers can pay for apps even without credit cards or email IDs. Text-to-speech conversion is also supported in 6 regional languages.

Talking of specifications, the Unite 4 includes a 5-inch HD display and is powered by a 1GHz quad-core MediaTek (MT6735P) processor paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB storage. Other features include Android 6.0 Marshmallow as base software, 8MP rear camera, 5MP front camera and a 2500mAh battery. The handset also includes a fingerprint sensor clubbed with the home button and a dual SIM card slot.

On the other hand, the Unite 4 Pro is powered by 1.3GHz quad core Spreadtrum chipset assisted by 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, and has a bigger 3900 mAh battery. Unlike Unite 4, the base software is Android Lollipop. Other features remain same.

The Unite 4 will be available offline for 6,999 INR, and the Unite 4 Pro will retail exclusively on Snapdeal for 7,499 INR.

“Regional language support is the most overlooked with Micromax being a pioneer in bringing language smartphones to the country with its Unite series. Basis our research, we found that consumers don’t upgrade because of lack of convenience and language inhibitions, contrary to the popular belief of price being the biggest barrier for most of the people wanting to upgrade from feature phones to smartphones. To address this challenge, we partnered with Indus OS to take a lead in breaking the language barrier and provide users the best localized smartphone experience. With the launch of the new Unite 4 and Unite 4 Pro we are all set to yet again break down the adoption barriers by bringing together an ecosystem of device, services, local language and internet,” said Shubhajit Sen, Chief Marketing Officer, Micromax Informatics, ushering in the new Unite smartphones.
