Micromax Recently wiped its slate clean, all preped for a fresh start, and showcased the next 13 Smartphones it will be bringing to India. The domestic manufacturer is gradually taking ‘The 13’ out of those glass cases, revealing details like specs, price, and availability, and the next installment is Canvas Mega 2.

As the name suggests, the Micromax Canvas Mega 2 is an affordable, large 6-inch display phablet that costs 7,999 INR. Choice of quarter HD (960 X 540) resolution for the gigantic size display, however, seems completely inappropriate in 2016. Other hardware isn’t very promising either.

You get 1.3GHz quad core chip paired with 1GB RAM and 8GB storage. Canvas Mega 2 also includes MicroSD card support, 8MP rear camera with LED flash, 5MP front camera, Android Lollipop OS, and a 3000 mAh battery.

Commenting on the launch Mr. Shubhajit Sen, Chief Marketing Officer, Micromax Informatics said “With the proliferation of 3G and 4G networks, the mobile video traffic is expected to grow at a CAGR of 88% between 2014 and 2019. Mobile gaming is another big area of growth with user base likely to reach 320 million by 2020 (source: statista) from the current 180 million. This has led to the phablet category’s phenomenal growth of 190% in 2015 over previous years. We believe, there will be further rise of mobile internet and persistent increase in demand for larger screens and video consumption. Micromax spotted these trends early on with its super successful Doodle series and now furthering it with Mega series by offering consumers various large screen smartphones options to provide an immersive internet and entertainment experience.”

In related news, Micromax will start accepting pre-orders for its current flagship phone Canvas 6 from tomorrow onwards. The Canvas 6 is the first metal unibody phone and the first phone with fingerprint sensor coming from Micromax’s camp.
