One of the leading chipmaker MediaTek has announced a new flagship chipset, namely the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ for better performance of smartphones. The announcement was made a couple of weeks after Qualcomm announced Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 which indicates that MediaTek aims to compete with its main rival head to head in the coming months.

MediaTek Dimensity 9000+: What’s new?

Though the new chipset doesn’t have many improvements over its existing counterpart, still there are some upgrades. The Dimensity 9000+ chipset comes with a higher clocked prime core which will boost its performance. A new 3.2GHz Cortex X2 is a part of 9000+ as opposed to a 3GHz Cortex X2 core on the existing Dimensity 9000. The processor is based on a 4nm TSMC node process.

There are still 3 Cortex A710 Cores clocked at 2.85GHz and 4 Cortex A510 cores running at 1.8GHz just like the existing chipset. Both 9000 and 9000+ come with Arm Mali G710 MC10 GPUs with support of up to 180Hz at FHD+ resolution and 144Hz for WQHD+ resolution.

Dimensity 9000+ also has support for LPDDR5X RAM (Up to 7500Mbps) and 5th Gen 590 AI processing unit, just like Dimensity 9000 has. The RAM supports 8MB L3 CPU cache and 6MB of system cache. There is support for up to 4K60 HDR10+ video, 320MP triple camera setup, and more.

The other features include Bluetooth 5.3 with BLE auto-ready, WiFi 6E, Wireless Stereo audio, and Beidou B1C GNSS support. The company has claimed that the Dimensity 9000+ chipset will give a 5% boost in CPU and 10% boost in GPU performance, as compared to its predecessor.

“Building on the success of our first flagship 5G chipset, the Dimensity 9000+ ensures that device makers always have access to the most advanced high-performance features and the latest mobile technologies, making it possible for their top-tier smartphones to stand out,” said Dr. Yenchi Lee, Deputy GM of MediaTek’s Wireless Communications Business Unit.

He further added, “With a suite of top-tier AI, gaming, multimedia, the Dimensity 9000+ delivers faster gameplay, seamless streaming, and an all-around better user experience.”
