Panasonic used the CES 2017 stage to present its latest Micro Four Third camera, the Lumix GH5, which is meant for professional videographers and will play successor to the very successful Lumix GH4.

On the outside, the Lumix GH5 doesn’t vastly differ from the Lumix GH4. Its magnesium alloy full diecast front / rear frame is splash, dust, and also freeze-proof (can operate at -10 degrees Celcius). The GH5 has a large LVF (Live View Finder) with a high magnification ratio of approx. 1.52x / 0.76x (35mm camera equivalent). The new OLED viewfinder used on the GH5 flaunts a resolution of 4 million dots and the camera can accept up to two UHS-II SD cards.

The camera sensor has been upgraded to 20.3-Megapixels which brings it at par with other contemporary high-end Micro Four Third cameras. The 2-Axis OIS and 5-Axis Body Image stabilization should help with perfectly stable videos.

The new GH5 again evolves to achieve 4K 60p / 50p ultra high-definition, smooth, video recording and is also capable of 4:2:2 10-bit 4K 30p / 25p internal video recording as well as outputting even more faithful color reproduction for the first time as a digital interchangeable lens camera.

It can also be used to capture 4K and Full HD slow motion videos at 60FPS and 180FPS, respectively. The GH5 complies with V-LogL video recording with the purchase of the DMW-SFU1 Upgrade Software Key. Use of Upgrade Software Key also activates LUT (Look Up Table) in the camera so users can play videos recorded in V-LogL on the camera. Practical tools like Waveform Monitor and Vector Scope have also been added.

The 4K Photo Panasonic feature, which allows you to pull still frames from a video footage, has been enhanced to 6K Photos in the Lumix GH5. The 6K photo mode grabs 18MP frames, which is a significant upgrade over 8MP frames in 4K Photos.

Panasonic Lumix GH5 will start retailing in March for a body only price of $2000 or Approx. 1,36,000 INR.
