What’s special about LG’s Advanced Iris Scanner?

Unlike regular face-recognition, the new patent offers few additional features. One of these new features includes an ability to adjust its reading mode based on the surrounding light. What exactly does that mean? Well, it means that the iris scanner will adapt as per the ambiance and will work in both dark and bright conditions.

It is well-known fact that our iris changes its size as per the lighting conditions, with this new iris scanner the LG G7 will be able to unlock the device even in poorly lit ambiance. Other than this,  the G7’s iris scanner will allegedly be foolproof thanks to its new dot tracking technology which can’t be tricked with a photograph to steal information.

In the past as well we have heard about LG’s plans to introduce iris scanner on its G-series phones but somehow they never materialized. Much before the launch of the G5, rumours suggested that it will boasts of both fingerprint sensor as well as the iris scanner but it never made it to a final product. With iPhone X and Samsung flagships featuring an iris scanner, it is possible for LG to find a way to introduce this new patented iris scanner in the G7 in 2018.
