After revealing the Tab Plus in international markets in June, Lenovo launched the Android tablet in India on July 16, 2024. While the device features a metallic body, a large 11.5-inch screen, and runs on an octa-core processor, its main highlight is the eight-speaker setup powered by JBL. Here’s everything you need to know about the new Lenovo tablet.

Lenovo Tab Plus Design

Before we dive into the specifications and features of the new Android tablet, let’s talk about its design for a bit. From the front, the Tab Plus looks like any other tablet in the segment. However, the rear panel houses an integrated kickstand, which helps users position the device on a flat surface. Further, the side frames aren’t flat; users would notice a slight bulge toward the bottom of the device, which is to make room for the massive speakers the tablet comes with.

With an aluminum body and a total of eight speakers, the device weighs 650 grams. Further, it is only available in one color: Luna Gray.

Lenovo Tab Plus Specifications And Features

Screen

Lenovo Tab Plus screen

Out of the box, the Lenovo Tab Plus comes with an 11.5-inch 2K LCD screen that supports 90Hz refresh rate and 400 nits of peak brightness. The screen is TUV-certified to ensure that it emits low blue light and is flicker-free. There’s an in-built Reading Mode that softens the screen to simulate the color matrix of a book’s pages.

JBL-Powered Speaker System

Complementing the screen are eight JBL Hi-Fi speakers (four matrix tweeters and four force-balanced woofers) that produce a sound output of 26W. The eight speakers are housed in four boxes with a volume of 22cc, which is why they deliver deeper bass and clearer treble. If the tablet does indeed generate a sound output of 26W, it should be enough to fill a small room on its own, allowing users to watch their favorite movies or TV shows without connecting any external speakers. The cherry on the cake is support for Dolby Atmos.

For better sound customization, the tablet features a personalized app volume control that automatically adjusts the volume based on the active application. The app tweaks the volume based on what’s playing, i.e., it could increase the volume when users are playing music or reduce it when the browser is selected. Moreover, the tablet provides one of the best speaker systems in the segment, and it could very well be its unique selling proposition that appeals to multimedia users.

Processor And Storage

Under the hood, the Tab Plus runs on the MediaTek Helio G99 (6nm), an octa-core chipset with two performance cores clocking up to 2.2GHz. While the global variant ships with 8GB of RAM, the press release doesn’t immediately clarify the RAM on the Indian variant. Nonetheless, it does mention that the device ships with up to 256GB of in-built storage (on the higher trim). On top of that, the device also supports a microSD card.

Optics And Additional Features

Lenovo Tab Plus features

Regarding optics, the Lenovo Tab Plus features an 8MP camera on the back and a similar sensor on the front, both of which can record videos in 1080p at 30 fps. Powering the device is an 8,600 mAh battery that supports 45W fast charging and offers up to 12 hours of streaming on a single charge. Additional features include an IP52 dust and water resistance rating, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.2, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and support for a stylus.
