Lenovo Moto P30 with Snapdragon 636 SoC, iPhone X like Display Goes Official: Specifications, Features and Price

Lenovo’s Motorola has officially unveiled its latest mid-range smartphone Moto P30 (also known as Motorola P30) in China. The smartphone maker has achieved new heights in terms of taking inspiration from competitors. The Moto P30 resonant iPhone X, with its similar notched display, and a glass rear panel. Though, the Moto P30 Aurora blue color variant clones Huawei’s P20 deep purple shade.

Moto P30 Features

On paper, the Moto P30 is at par with Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro at best. The P30 houses a 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC, mated to 6GB RAM and 64GB or 128GB internal memory (expandable upto 256GB via microSD) The phone comes running on Moto’s ZUI 4.0 skin atop Android 8.0 Oreo software. Lenovo has also announced Android Pie upgrade for Moto P30, later this year.

On optical front, the phone features a 16MP primary rear OV16B sensor (f/1.8 aperture) and a 5MP auxiliary OV5675 sensor camera with (f/2.2 aperture). The rear camera also gets PDAF and a dual-tone LED flashlight. Lenovo has also fitted a 12MP selfie shooter sensor up front with f/2.0 aperture and software features like AR capabilities, and double-sided AI blur.

The Moto P30 is powered by a 3,000mAh battery. Connectivity options on board include 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac with hotspot, Bluetooth v5.0 LE, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Moto P30 sensors include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, electronic compass, gyroscope, a fingerprint sensor (on the rear panel), and a proximity sensor.

Additionally, Motorola has also announced its timeline for the release of Android Pie software updates on its various Moto-branded smartphones. Moto’s flagship phones such as Moto Z3, Moto Z3 Play, Moto Z2 Force Edition, Moto Z2 Play, Moto X4, Moto G6, Moto G6 Play, Moto G6 Plus, will receive the Android Pie update in the later half of 2018.

Moto P30 Price

The basic variant (6GB RAM + 64GB storage) of Moto P30 will be available in China for CNY 2,099 (approx Rs 21,400), and the superior version ( 6GB RAM + 128GB storage) will cost CNY 2,499 (approx Rs 25,400). The phone will hit Chinese market shelves on September 15. Colour options available on this phone – Aurora Blue, Black, and White.

Motorola’s post on Weibo about this phone being “designed for China” specifically, could mean that the phone will not make its way out of China, at least in near future.
