Expanding its affordable 5G smartphone lineup, Lava India has launched the Storm 5G. It comes with a large 6.78-inch IPS screen, an octa-core processor, runs on 8GB of RAM, and supports 33W fast wired charging. Here’s everything you need to know about the new handset, including its design, specifications, and price.

The phone is available in two rather classy colors: Gale Green and Thunder Black. The smartphone has a punch-hole cutout on the front to house the selfie camera. Although the bezels are symmetrical on three sides, the bottom panel has a thick chin. Turning this around, the phone’s rear panel is squeaky clean, except for the two circular camera cutouts at the upper left corner and the company’s branding in the bottom left corner.

The phone’s right spine has the power button and the volume rockers. On the left, there’s a SIM tray. The bottom panel features the Type-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, the primary microphone, and the speaker grille. Moreover, the Lava Storm 5G is above average in terms of looks, especially in this price category.

The device comes with a 6.78-inch FHD+ IPS display with a 120Hz refresh rate and support for Widevine L1. Under the hood, the handset runs on MediaTek’s Dimensity 6080 chipset, an octa-core processor with two Arm Cortext-A76 cores clocked at 2.4GHz. With the mid-tier processor, the smartphone has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. The phone also supports 8GB of virtual memory, which extends the RAM when users need it.

In terms of cameras, the smartphone has a 50MP primary camera with an 8MP ultrawide sensor. On the front, users get a 16MP selfie shooter. Out of the box, the smartphone runs on Android 13, but the company has promised an update to Android 14, along with two years of software updates. This implies that the handset should receive security updates till 2025.

Connectivity options on the handset include 5G, dual SIM, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, and USB Type-C. Although the smartphone is a bit heavy at 214 grams, it also has a massive battery that should provide a decent backup.

In its price range, the smartphone competes with other models like Realme C67 5G and Redmi 13C 5G. However, the competitors don’t offer free home service during the warranty period.

The smartphone is available at an introductory price of Rs. 11,999. However, the regular price of the smartphone is Rs. 13,499. It is listed on the company’s official website and Amazon, and customers can buy it starting December 28, 2023.
