Lava announced camera-centric V5 at Rs. 11,499

Indian smartphone manufacturer Lava has gone official with its latest V5 in India and priced it at Rs. 11,499. The smartphone will be available in both retail stores and on e-bay online store from Wednesday onwards.

Company is relying heavily on its camera to draw the sales. The Lava V5 features a 13-megapixel primary shooter which is packed with PDAF (phase detection autofocus), 5P Largen lens, f/2.0 aperture, and dual LED flash. On the other hand, the secondary camera has an 8-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture and 84 degree wide angle lens coupled with LED flash.

To assist the hardware, complimentary camera app includes features like Pic Focus, Night Pro, Intelligent Selfie, Wide Selfie, GIF maker, and multi-angle view options. Of course, since it is camera that we are talking about, it won’t be wise to be enticed with any sort of lofty claims and we would have to test it to believe it.

The Lava V5 enthralls on a quad-core MediaTek chipset ticking at 1.3GHz which is assisted by 3GB of RAM. It sports a 5.5-inch HD IPS display with 1280×720 resolution and runs on a customized version Android 5.0 Lollipop. The display comes with added layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection to prevent from scratches.

In terms of connectivity options, the phone supports 4G, GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Glonass, and Micro-USB. Company has promised VoLTE support after upcoming FOTA update. The phone comes with 16GB of built-in storage which is expandable up to 32GB. Under the hood, it also packs a 3000mAh battery.
