Jio Phone 5G could be the cheapest 5G phone in India; Could be priced under Rs 12,000

Reliance held its 45th AGM meeting last month on August 29 revealing that it will launch a 5G phone in partnership with Google. The company, however, didn’t mention JioPhone 5G but a new revelation hints the phone is in making. Also, Reliance with its association with Google aims to bring the cheapest 5G phones to the country. 

According to a recent estimate from Counterpoint Research, the Jio Phone 5G could be the most affordable device of its kind on the market and Reliance could price it at less than Rs 12,000. Here’s more about the upcoming JioPhone 5G.

Jio Phone 5G expected features

The front of the Jio Phone 5G might feature a 6.5-inch HD+ display with a 60Hz refresh rate. An 8MP sensor could be used in the front camera. For the rear camera arrangement, it could offer a 13MP primary camera and a 2MP secondary sensor. The 5G Jio Phone is said to pack a 5000mAh battery with 18W charging speed support.

The upcoming Jio Phone 5G may have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 chipset inside, along with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. There might also be support for microSD cards. We might see Pragati OS along with a simplified version of Google Apps and the Jio app suite, thanks to the Jio-Google partnership.

Jio 5G phone price in India

As per the Counterpoint report, the cost of the Jio Phone 5G will range from Rs 8,000 to Rs 12,000. Before releasing its budget-friendly 5G phone, the company will wait until the 5G network has been deployed in a sizable portion of the nation.

With no more details on the Jio Phone 5G, the report mentioned, “Further, at some point in 2024, Jio will also be compelled to launch an affordable 5G mmWave + sub-6GHz smartphone as the cost deltas between the two have narrowed significantly from the overall BoM (bill of materials) fitting perspective.”
