iVoomi i2 Design and Display

iVoomi’s new invention, the i2, comes clad in a shiny plastic-body casing with smooth curved edges and full vision 18:9 display up front. It is a compact device with 5.45-inch HD+ (1920X1080 pixels) display and visibly thin bezels surrounding it. Having said that you won’t face any trouble operating the iVoomi i2 with just one hand.

The literal flip side of the phone has a glossy 3D mirror-finish and the back panel tapers all the way towards the edges to accentuate the look of the i2. This is removable and made up of all-plastic. A good-quality case cover is needed to keep the iVoomi i2 scratch and damage free. Also, we did notice some flexes in the body, but maybe that isn’t that big a deal because the phone has a removable back.

Furthermore, there is no fingerprint sensor on iVoomi i2, leaving the consumer to either go for software-backed face unlock (which is not very reliable), or use pin or pattern to safeguard their phone from intruders.

The edges of the phone are where you will find volume rockers and power button (on the right), speaker grill (at the bottom), and headphone jack and micro USB port (on the top).

iVoomi i2 Performance and Software

The iVoomi i2 features very modest specifications – it rocks Mediatek MTK6739 Quad Core chipset clocked at 1.5GHz, paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage.

The initial experience with the phone was largely smooth, the apps opened in no-time and multi-tasking was easy with no lags. Since the iVoomi i2 employs an entry-grade chipset, the phone will suit people with basic needs.

But the good thing is that the iVoomi i2 runs on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. It has a custom UI applied on top, which chips in a few extra-features missing from the vanilla-Android, but we didn’t find it particlularly enthralling or amusing. If you ask us, we would side toward stock-Android anyway.

It is worth mentioning that, the iVoomi i2 comes with dual SIM dual 4G VoLTE SIM. You can use two JIO SIM cards on the phone simultaneously.

iVoomi i2 Camera and Battery

For shutterbugs, the iVoomi i2 sports a dual-rear camera setup on the rear, where the primary sensor is 13-megapixel and secondary 2-megapixel. The additional sensor is to click images with blurred background, aka portrait shots. Up front, the iVoomi i2 selfie camera sports an 8-megapixel shooter.

The results turned out to be decent in broad daylight. Whereas in indoor photography, the performance is nothing to write home about. That’s perhaps acceptable for a phone in this segment. Additionally, the iVoomi i2 camera offers features like Face beauty, HDR, panorama, and Pro, and they are backed by soft LED flash to shoot images in low-light.

The iVoomi i2 portrait mode does a fair job in keeping the subject in focus and of blurring the background. You can also control the intensity of blur and the shutter speed on the handset.

The area where the iVoomi i2 scores big is its battery backup. The phone houses a 4000mAh non-removable battery that can easily last for a day or more.

iVoomi i2 Quick Review: Verdict

The iVoomi i2 retails in India exclusively on Flipkart at a price of Rs. 7,499. You can choose between the Indigo Blue and Olive Black color variants.

The iVoomi i2 is certainly one of the best design phones in the budget segment. The 3D glass back looks far more premium than its price tag suggests, and that makes it stand out from the crowd. However, what disappoints us though is that the phone sport a very mediocre chipset and there is no fingerprint sensor.

So should you buy the iVoomi i2? If you are looking for a phone with contemporary trends and premium design without spending too much, the iVoomi i2 is worth considering.

Pros

  • Premium Design
  • Dual-camera setup
  • Dual SIM Dual VoLTE
  • Android Oreo

Cons

  • Medicore chipset
  • No fingerprint sensor
  • No dedicated microSD card slot
