Chinese mobile phone maker Transsion Holdings recently brought its itel mobile global brand to India, and is off to a great start. In 3 short months, the brand has reached its first milestone of selling 1 million handsets.

itel’s India portfolio includes a total of 15 phones including 8 feature phones and 7 smartphones all priced under 10,000 INR. It’s quite clear that the brand has chosen to capture offline market over a boisterous online start.

Also, the brand will expand its reach to cover Maharashtra, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Orissa and North eastern states by August.

But what about after sales support?

Well, the brand has that covered as well. itel claims that will have around 1000 service centers active by the year end. As of today, all itel consumers can avail one-of-its-kind 100 days replacement warranty

Speaking on the milestone, Sudhir Kumar, CEO, itel Mobile India, said, “itel was launched in India to eliminate the technological disparity that exists between the urban and the rural geographies. The impressive response that we have received within such a short duration since our launch underlines the efficacy of our brand’s value-plus approach in the Indian market. We would like to thank our partners and consumers who made this feat possible for us. We are confident of devising and launching even more innovative offerings that will empower the Indian consumer and give India the boost it needs to evolve into a completely digital economy.”

Next target: 2 Million handsets per month by Diwali this year.
