The upcoming Android flagship iQoo 12, which could be the first smartphone to arrive with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC (4nm) in India, will run on a Funtouch OS 14 without bloatware. Further, the company has also announced how many Android and security updates it will get. Although the smartphone has already hit the Chinese market, it is scheduled to arrive in India on December 12, 2023.

iQoo 12 Will Get Three Years Of Android Updates

We know iQoo 12 will launch with Funtouch OS 14 based on Android 14, including better multitasking and app management features. Now, the company’s CEO has announced that iQoo 12 will get three years of Android updates and four years of security updates. Although this isn’t something we’ve not seen before, it is a good sign for the customers who’ll have three to four years of software support from the company.

What Do Other Android Flagships Provide In Terms Of Android Updates?

For reference, Samsung has promised to provide four generations of Android updates and five years of security updates for the Galaxy S23 series. On the other hand, Google has set the bar too high, promising seven years of Android and security updates for the latest Pixel 8 series.

iQoo 12 To Ship Without “Hot Apps”

Further, iQoo 12 won’t include any “Hot Apps” or “Hot Games” pre-installed, which is the company’s way of saying it would come out with no bloatware. This would improve the overall user experience and provide a true flagship experience, complimenting the top-tier specifications of the device.
