India is all set to go the EU way; Standardize USB Type-C ports for all gadgets

0

Following the footsteps of the European Union, India has also decided to make USB Type-C charging ports common and mandatory for all smartphones in the market. To recall, Europan Union passed a law requiring all smartphone manufacturers to use USB Type-C ports for universal charging by 2024. Now, the Indian government, along with a few agencies, had a meeting for the Central Ministerial Task Force to have a discussion regarding the standardization of charging ports for electronic devices.

It clearly means that in the future, we can get to see the USB type-C charging ports not only in the EU market but in India too. It is being said that all the devices like laptops, earbuds, tablets, smartwatches, and more will get the standard USB Type-C charging ports. The idea behind the same is to reduce e-waste production as a single charger will be compatible with multiple gadgets.

The adoption of a single charging port for multiple gadgets is expected to be examined by the Ministry of Environment Forrest and Climate Change (MoEFCC). Until now, there has been no official confirmation regarding the enforcement of USB-C standardization in India. While the EU is all the make, all the phones will get USB Type-C ports by 2024, and laptops to get the same by 2026.

How is Apple planning to tackle the situation?

Apple has no other option but to ditch the lightning flash and stick to the USB Type-C port for the upcoming iPhone 15 series. It seems like Apple is already working on Type-C USB port-integrated devices; at least, the rumours say the same. According to the leaks, the base variant of the iPhone 15 series, the iPhone 15, and the iPhone 15 Plus will get USB 2.0 support. However, we will get to see a whopping transfer speed of 40Gbps in the iPhone 15 Pro variants. This will also give a chance to Apple to make dollars by luring people to buy the Pro variants of the iPhone 15 series.
