Looks like Xiaomi wants to be the first smartphone maker to host Qualcomm’s next-gen Snapdragon flagship processor this year as well. According to tipster Digital Chat Station, Xiaomi is expected to launch the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC-powered phone aka the Xiaomi 15 in mid-October.

Earlier last week, we learned about Xiaomi gaining exclusive first launch rights from chip designer Qualcomm. Today, the latest leak suggests we could see Xiaomi 15 donning the flagship chipset alongside Xiaomi 15 Pro.

When it comes to the launch, Xiaomi has been at the forefront launching next-gen iterations of its flagship series before OnePlus or other brands could take the ‘first brand to host the new chipset’ title. Last year, we got the Xiaomi 14 series in China on October 26th followed by its international launch at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February 2024.

It seems like Xiaomi will pull off something similar meaning the Chinese launch will happen sometime around mid-October (a few days before last year’s launch). It will be followed by an international launch at MWC in February 2025 if our calculations are on point.

The company’s release schedule hints that the tech giant is confident about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC and Xiaomi 15. If true, Xiaomi fans can rejoice as the phone will arrive one or two weeks earlier than the last series.

Xiaomi 15 promises leaps in performance thanks to the upgraded Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC. The chipset reportedly scored 2,700 points and 10,000 points on single-core and multi-core tests (on Geekbench) signaling improved performance. It is expected to bring two extra large cores clocked between 3.6 to 4GHz providing the breeding ground for improved theoretical performance. Moreover, we would see improvements across both the CPU and GPU side.

No doubt Qualcomm’s next-gen flagship processor will unlock a leap in performance. Xiaomi 15 will be the first taker followed by the likes of OnePlus, Vivo, and Oppo among other brands.
