TL; DR
  • Ice Universe has shared official dimension-based comparisons between the Huawei Pura X Max and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide.
  • The Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide is thinner at 4.3 mm unfolded and 9.8 mm folded, while the Huawei Pura X Max measures 5.2 mm and 11.2 mm.
  • Samsung’s model is also narrower when folded at 82.2 mm vs 85 mm and uses a 4:3 inner display ratio.

Ice Universe has posted what he describes as official specifications comparing the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide and the recently launched Huawei Pura X Max. The side-by-side chart compares physical dimensions and display aspect ratios, giving an early look at how Samsung’s new wide foldable may compare with Huawei’s rival model.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide Is Thinner and Narrower Than the Huawei Pura X Max, Another Wide Foldable

According to the shared numbers, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide measures 161.4 mm wide, 123.9 mm tall, and 4.3 mm thick when unfolded. When folded, it is listed at 9.8 mm thick and 82.2 mm wide. The Huawei Pura X Max is larger in some areas, measuring 166.5 mm wide, 120 mm tall, and 5.2 mm thick when unfolded. Folded thickness is listed at 11.2 mm, while folded width is 85 mm.

That means Samsung’s device is 0.9 mm thinner when open, 1.4 mm thinner when closed, and 2.8 mm narrower in folded form. These are the main portability differences highlighted by the leak.

Display ratios are also different. The Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide is said to use a 4.7:3 outer display and a 4:3 inner display. Huawei’s phone is listed with a 4.4:3 outer display and a 4.24:3 inner display. Both are part of the growing wide book-style foldable category, though Samsung’s inner panel is closer to a classic tablet-style shape.

This leak follows earlier reports that Samsung is preparing two bookstyle foldables for 2026: the standard Z Fold8 and a new Wide variant. The Galaxy Z Fold8 lineup is still expected to launch at Samsung’s July 2026 Unpacked event.
