Huawei Mate X – Can it beat Samsung Galaxy Fold?
The Mate X is a foldable phone that might give Samsung a run for the money. Contrast to the Samsung Galaxy Fold’s book like structure, this one has unfolds to transform the 6.6-inch full-screen smartphone into a 5.4mm thin, eight-inch tablet that features almost double the viewing area of the device in smartphone mode. Thus they designate the design as Falcon Wing Mechanical hinge. If you were wondering, yes, the power button would act as the fingerprint reader.
It features two battery combining a total capacity of 4500mAh. This also supports the 55W HUAWEI SuperCharge, that tops the battery up quickly to minimize the charging downtime.
Under the hood, it also features the Kirin 980 SoC with Balong 5000 5G modem. Huawei bets on the fastest network speed which could be tested once 5G rolls out. On the memory department, we have 512GB internally and 8GB of RAM.
A triple camera setup powered by Leica optics acts as front cum rear shooters. The trio comprises of a primary 40MP sensor (wide-angle lens), 16MP (ultra-wide-angle lens), and an 8MP sensor (telephoto).
The phone will ship with a custom-made EMUI 9.1.1 based on Android 9 Pie software. It would also feature other connectivity options such as NFC, dual-frequency GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, and USB Type-C port.
The phone is expected to start at a price tag of €2,299, which roughly translates to INR 1,79,747. It wouldn’t be the only folding phone to launch this year. Samsung Galaxy Fold would be its direct competition.
