In a bid to strengthen its grip in the mid-range segment, Huawei doled out its newest mid-range phone, the Honor 6X in the global market, a few months after it was introduced in China. By the looks of it, the 6X is going into reign supreme in a market that promises ‘more for less’, courtesy its standout feature – a dual camera setup on the back.

Huawei surely intends to build upon the strengths of its predecessor, the Honor 5X, for it looks like a refined version of the same. While on paper, the phone looks to be among the top players in its category, it will be interesting to see how it copes up with the rest once it is out.

The 6X runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is powered by Huawei Kirin 655 octa-core processor. While its screen size remains the same as that of the 5X, Huawei claims improvement in terms of color calibration.

The primary highlight of the Huawei 6X is the dual camera setup. The two high-quality rear cameras which the photography lovers can make optimum use of. The dual camera setup is unlike the one found in the Honor 8 and has one 12MP sensor for the composition of the image whilst the other 2MP depth sensor is for providing neat camera effects. Although the said setup has little to no effect on the color resolution, it can be deemed to be USP of the Honor 6X.

On the flip side, while the Honor 6X can be termed as ‘power-packed’, there are certain aspects where it lacks pedigree. A predominant drawback is the presence of a hybrid SIM tray, which means you can either use 2 SIMS or 1 SIM and 1 MicroSD card. This, obviously, falls flat for those who want to use a dual SIM phone along with a MicroSD card.

The Honor 6X will be available in Gold, Silver, and Grey colors. The price announced for global markets starts at US$ 249.99 (Rs. 17050 approx.). Honor 6X Price in India is expected to be revealed in the next few weeks.
