Huawei will launch a new Enjoy series phone in China on May 24. The company confirmed the Enjoy Z launch date via a teaser poster on Chinese microblogging site Weibo.

The side profile of the mobile on the poster reveals that the Huawei Enjoy Z is going to have a curved design, and also that this is going to be a 5G phone – which is interesting since Enjoy-series usually has affordable entry-grade phones.

The poster doesn’t give away much and we will have to wait another week for confirmation on the hardware used. As for software, the Enjoy 5Z will launch without GMS support – not that it matters in China.

Huawei has been actively combating US sanctions and has been one of the most active smartphone players through the COVID-19 pandemic induced economic slowdown. New US rules restrict semiconductor fabs like TSMC from supplying chipsets to Huawei, and this is going to be a big blow to their smartphone business.

“This decision by the US government does not just affect Huawei. It will have a serious impact on a wide number of global industries. In the long run, this will damage the trust and collaboration within the global semiconductor industry which many industries depend on, increasing conflict and loss within these industries.

The US is leveraging its own technological strengths to crush companies outside its own borders. This will only serve to undermine the trust international companies place in US technology and supply chains. Ultimately, this will harm US interests,” said Huawei in a statement.

The company had recently launched Honor 9X Pro in India with its own Huawei AppGallery for apps and related services, giving a miss to Google. While a new edition of Huawei P30 Pro with Google services was introduced in Europe.
