Soon Android user will be able to search information stored within the installed app with Google Search. Google has announced a new “In Apps” feature which will appear inside the Google app on Android. This new innovation will allow users to search for contacts, photo and videos across apps installed on the phone.

To avail this feature, Android users have to open Google App and then swipe to the ‘In-App’ tab to use it. This new feature will work even in offline mode, which means you need not have a stable data connection. With the help of the new feature, you can directly search for contact details you friend shared with you on mail without going online. Google lets users select from setting which apps to include in the search results.

Here are a few examples of what you can do with this new In-App search mode:

  • Find your contacts and messages. Easily find the friend you want to catch up with or the name of the new sushi place that your friend told you about last month — just search for [sushi] and find the message.
  • Listen to your favorite running song or watch that sneezing panda video for the 15th time — all in one place.
  • Stay organized with your tasks and notes. Want to check off items on your grocery list? No problem, just search for [groceries].

Initially, it will only work with apps like Gmail, Spotify, and YouTube. Google plans to add Facebook Messenger, LinkedIn, Evernote, Glide, Todoist and Google Keep to the list soon. Google has been constantly at work to improve and add new features in its search results to keep itself ahead of the competition. Recently, it introduced movie cards and health cards in its search engine.

LG’s upcoming flagship phone V20 will be world’s first smartphone to come loaded with In-App search feature out of the box. It will also be the first smartphone to run on Android 7.0 Nougat even before Google’s Marlin and Sailfish smartphones.

As smartphone features become increasingly diverse, a growing number of smartphone users are willing to search for more information saved on their mobile devices,” said Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics and Mobile Communications Company. “The V20 combined with Google’s evolving search tools will allow users to search for information they need faster in a more convenient and smart manner.”
