Google is preparing to introduce an additional model to the Pixel 9 smartphone lineup. The Google Pixel 9a has been making headlines recently, with various press renders and specifications appearing online periodically. Recently, Android Headlines published a complete specification sheet for the anticipated Pixel 9a. This leaked information originates from an undisclosed wireless carrier and has been corroborated by an anonymous source. In this article, we will outline all the details currently available regarding the Pixel 9a.

Google Pixel 9a: Design & Colors

Google Pixel 9a will reportedly have dimensions of 154.7×73.3×8.9mm which means it will be taller and wider than Pixel 8a. However, earlier reports claimed that the Pixel 9a will be thinner than Pixel 8a, but those seem untrue now. Google Pixel 9a might be a bigger device than Pixel 8a, but will weigh 3 grams less than the predecessor at 185g. Google Pixel 8a measured 152.1×72.7×8.9mm and weighed 188 grams.

The Pixel 9a will come in Porcelain, Iris, Peony, and Obsidian shades, which is the same as Pixel 9 vanilla model. Google might equip the Pixel 9a with the same IP68 rating for durability as the Pixel 9 series.

Google Pixel 9a: SoC & Storage

The Google Pixel 9a will be powered by Tensor G4 chipset with an M2 Titan security chip. In terms of storage configuration, it is expected to get following variants-

  • 8GB RAM+128GB storage
  • 8GB RAM+256GB storage

It will be LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. It will run Android 15 and get 7 years of OS updates along with Feature Drop updates.

Google Pixel 9a: Display

Google’s Pixel 9a is said to sport a 6.2-inch Actua Display with a peak brightness of 2700 nits and HDR brightness of 1800 nits. The display will be protected by Gorilla Glass 3. It will be an FHD+ OLED panel with HDR, and 120Hz refresh rate.

Google Pixel 9a: Camera

In terms of camera, there will still be a dual lens setup at the back including a 48MP GN8 Quad Dual Pixel lens with an aperture of f/1.7. The secondary lens will be a 13MP Sony IMX712 ultrawide camera with an aperture of f/2.2.

The front camera will also be an ultrawide sensor.

Google Pixel 9a: Battery & Charging

Google Pixel 9a will reportedly back a 5100mAh battery under the hood, which will be a 13% improvement from Pixel 8a. The smartphone will support a wired charging speed of 23W and a wireless charging speed of 7.5W. Pixel 9a will still not support Qi2 charging tech.

Google Pixel 9a: Connectivity options

Connectivity will include 5G SA/NSA, 4G Volte, WiFi 6E 802.11, Bluetooth 5.3,GPS GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, NavIC, USB Type-C 3.2, and NFC.

Google Pixel 9a: Expected price

Google Pixel 8a was priced at Rs. 52,999 in India. Google Pixel 9a is expected to cost 499 USD in US which means India pricing will be around Rs. 50,000. The launch date hasn’t been announced yet, but the device might go official around March 2025.

Google Pixel 9 Series includes Google Pixel 9, Google Pixel 9 Pro, Google Pixel 9 Pro XL and Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
